You have dealt well with your servant, O LORD, according to your word. Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. You are good and do good; teach me your statutes. The insolent smear me with lies, but with my whole heart I keep your precepts; their heart is unfeeling like fat, but I delight in your law. It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Psalm 119:65-72 (esv) Welcome to visitors and announcements Call to worship Steve Henderson Your grace is enough Mighty fortress Speak, O Lord Turn your eyes upon jesus commissioning our moldovan mission team Worship in prayer Worship in Giving according to grace (please place information slips in offering basket) Worship in hearing Gods word Rightly regarding the Law Romans 7:6-13 Steve Henderson Worship in response to the god of all grace all who are thirsty amazing grace Benediction Sunday Worship 3:30 pm Mozartstrasse 12 July 13, 2014 Because worship is something we do in all of life, and not just for an hour and a half on Sunday, our gathering together on Sunday should be a joyous overflow of the private worship we have prized all week. So, let your joy be full and overflowing as you meet once again with others who treasure Jesus Christ more than his blessingsmore than health, more than wealth, and more than life itself! Lets greet one another heartily as we gather as a family in His presence. The time for preparation for our worship service is not five minutes before 3:30 on Sunday, but in all of life, Monday through Sunday. The Law and Love PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP One anothers i cannot find Ray ortlund The Gospel Coalition S anctify one another, humble one an - other, scrutinize one another, pressure one another, embarrass one another, corner one another, interrupt one another, defeat one another, sacrifice one another, shame one another, judge one another, run one anothers lives, confess one anothers sins, intensify one anothers sufferings, point out one anothers fail- ings The kind of God we really believe in is revealed in how we treat one another. The lovely gospel of Jesus positions us to treat one another like royalty, and every non-gospel positions us to treat one another like dirt. But we will follow through horizontally on whatever we believe ver- tically. Our relationships with one another, then, are telling us what we really believe as opposed to what we think we believe, our convictions as opposed to our opinions. It is possible for the gospel to remain at the shallow level of opinion, even sincere opinion, without penetrating to the level of real conviction. But when the gospel grips us at the level of conviction, we obey its implica- tions whatever the cost. Therefore, if we are not treating one another well, then what were fac- ing is not a lack of niceness but a lack of gospel. Our deficit is not primarily personal but theo- logical. What we need is not only better manners but, far more, true faith. Then the watching world will know that Jesus has come in among us: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. JOHN 13:34-35 WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS We are delighted to have you join us today in the worship of lifes ultimate Treasure, the Lord Jesus Christ. BIERGARTEN EVENINGS: WIRTSHAUS AM BAVARIAPARK In the summertime we often enjoy wonderful weather on Sunday evenings and a great chance to spend a leisurely time together in a Biergarten. Well be doing this each week (weather permitting), so come and join in the meal and conversations. Well gather at the Wirtshaus am Bavariapark (located at Theresienhhe 15, just across the Theresienwiese from MICC; about a ten minute walk). Plan to come on a Sunday evening, weather permitting! THINKING BIBLICALLY ABOUT OUR GIVING AND SERVICE Those who seek to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:19 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 OFFERINGS TO MICC If you are new to MICC, you may not realize that we are an unaffiliated local church. We have no funding from denominational agencies or mission offices, but are supported entirely by the grace motivated offerings of our members, friends, and regular attenders. Our giving is an act of worship through which we can participate in the joy of spreading Gods fame throughout the city and world. Our worship in giving should be regular, prayerful, proportional, generous and cheerful. Tax deductible contributions can be made by bank transfer (berweisung) to MICC IBAN: DE45702501500010069003 BIC: BYLADEM1KMS Kreissparkasse Mnchen Starnberg Tax deductible gifts in US Dollars can also be placed in the offering basket. JULY 20 Romans 7:14-25 The inner Conflict JULY 27 TBD AUGUST 3 Romans 8:1-2 No Condemnation! CHURCH PLANTING BICF IN HAIMHAUSEN Bavarian International Christian Fellowship was planted in September 2006 as an outreach from MICC. We sent sev- eral families to begin this new church in the Bavarian International School community in Haimhausen. Pray for their continued reaching out to the community with the gospel, and offering the chance to worship Christ in English. Pray that they would clearly and faithfully proclaim the biblical gospel in Haimhausen. Pray for the guarding of healthy and sound doctrine in the church. Pray for the leadership of the church, and do pray for their current transitions: Dan and Iara Pinckney left Munich in June, and BICF is preparing to welcome a new pastor. Pray for the Pinckneys as they seek Gods direction for the future and for the church as they seek Gods faithful provision for shepherds. Matt Sexton has been called to serve as pastor at BICF. Pray for the Sextons as they finalize their plans, manage the transitions, and raise financial support. Pray for the strength and health of the church in this interim period as well.
Iv. sin powerfully abuses law V. so then, does the law bring death? 8 But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. Apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9 I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10 The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me. 11 For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. 12 So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. 13 Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure. Introduction I. Rightly regarding the lAw Romans 7:7-13 Steve Henderson Series: romans July 13, 2014 Romans 7:4-13 4 Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may be [united] to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the newness of the Spirit not in the oldness of the letter. 7 What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. I would not have known what it is to covet Yet if the law had not said, You shall not covet.
