The purpose of this study was to study the relationship between time spent helping the other 12

variables. For this purpose, I used file Helping3.sav. The results were shown as below.
The ANOVA results indicates that the model is significant (F (13,523) = 20.845, p < 0.001, see
Table 1). The multiple correlation coefficient is 0.584 and the coefficient of determination is
0.341 (see Table 2), which indicates that the model explains 34% variation in the dependent
variable. Out of 13 independent variables included in the model, 6 were significant (see Table 3).
Out of these variables, the regression coefficient for variables mean of 14 efficacy measures,
helper mean severity rating, helper rates closeness of relationship, helper rating of worry
experienced by helper, mean rating of four anger questions, and gender are significant.

Assignment Using Stepwise Method:
Stepwise regression analysis method was used to test the relationship between time spent helping
the other 12 variables. Six models were tested. The model with highest coefficient of
determination is selected (George & Mallery, 2012).
The ANOVA results indicates that the model is significant (F (6,530) = 43.817, p < 0.001, see
Table 2). The multiple correlation coefficient is 0.576 and the coefficient of determination is
0.332 (see Table 2), which indicates that the model explains 33% variation in the dependent
variable. This model includes six variables Out of 13 independent variables (see Table 3). Out of
these variables, the regression coefficient for variables mean of 14 efficacy measures, helper
mean severity rating, helper rates closeness of relationship, helper rating of worry experienced
by helper, mean rating of four anger questions, and gender are significant (George & Mallery,
2012).
