This week we will be reviewing classroom objects. Well look at all of the vocabulary from last week and emphasize the words which are not as well recognised. We will particularly focus on making the vocabulary such as bag!" pencil!" bin" and book" clear as these should be the most useful currently at school. The words open" and shut" will be also be reviewed. We will sing one of the childrens favourite song #pen$Shut" and act out the action with objects such as bags and the door. This vocabulary is really useful for everyday tasks in the classroom. The weather board and morning songs will remain part of our morning routine. Acti"ity Tie %ocabulary #ne! two! three! four! five! si&! seven! eight! nine! ten! eleven! twelve! thirteen! fourteen! fifteen! count how many. Sentence structure' (ow many are there) *ets count. There are+ ,ames and -ctivities This week we have a numbers booklet called" Nursery maths" to make a start on. .t begins with recognition and formation of the number one. The children will trace over the digit! learn to recognise one object and recognise the digit itself. They will then move onto numbers /! 0! 1 and so on. -n alternative way to use counting will be using the counts to dance. The children will need to count the moves and count in time to the beats of the music. The children will also complete a join the numbers work sheet which will make a simple picture which they can then colour. We will play games with flashcards to clarify what each number looks like. We will be continuing to learn the sounds! songs and actions to the letters 5j! 6z! Ww! %v! 7y! 8&! and 9:. !e"iew .n phonics we will be reviewing and mastering the last set of single letter sounds as in New letters and sounds." We will play games such as pass the hat! fly swat and wheres the card) Wheres the card! involves placing the cards all around the classroom. The children must then locate the selected card and then say the sound and perform the action. We will also play musical sounds where the children are grouped into different sounds and must listen out for the song which corresponds to the sound group they are in. When the appropriate song is played! the correct group jumps up and joins on with the song. We will also look at the letters without images to learn the letters as symbols. Writing &ractice We will not be focusing on writing practice this week in phonics as we are finishing the last set of sounds.
