1. You observe that your neighbors marigold plant produce more flowers while yours
produce very few.
2. What causes plants to produce more flowers?

Information gathering
- Asked neighbors how they care their plants.
- Identified that one factor that induces flowering is a regular dose of a certain fertilizer (BRAND X
fertilizer)
- Watched commercial in the television stating that BRAND X Fertilizer causes plants to produce
- Interviewed people who have used the fertilizer

Hypothesis
- Plants given with Brand X fertilizer will produce more flowers than plants without fertilizer.

Hypothesis testing (Experiment)
Procedure
o Prepared 4 pots with the same size. Label it A, B, C and D respectively
o Put kg of soil in each pot. The soil must came from one source.
o In pot A, add 25 ml of Fertilizer X. In pot B, 50 ml and it pot C, 75 ml. For plant D, dont
add fertilizer.
o Put 10 seeds of the marigold in e ach pot then, place the pots in an area wherein there
is sunlight.
o Water each pot with the same amount of water and observe until the plant bear
flowers.
o Add fertilizers weekly following the same amount you have given to the plant.


Data Gathering
After 3 months of observation, the data gathered are as follows:

Conclusions:
Based on the data gathered, I therefore conclude that:
1. Brand X fertilizer helps marigold in producing more flowers.
2. The more the fertilizer added, many flowers will produce and the higher the marigold will be.
3. The color of the leaves doesnt affected by the fertilizer added into the plant.
