Turkia Mullin resilient lawyer, U.S Army recruit, graduate of Wayne state university, Detroit Mercy
school of Law,U of M Ross school of business, played a vital role as assistant Wayne County
executive in recent deals to open the Pinnacle race course,and advance a plan for the first
expansion of Cobo since the 1980's.
Pinnacle Aeropark is a 1,300 acre project started by former Wayne County executive Edward
McNamare in 1999, but no deal was made, the site still sits empty. Cobo center expansion,
another project with a lot of supporters, but another failed attempt on a deal left unfinished. The
failed attempts of the Pinnacle and cobo projects were no issue for Turkia Awada Mullin.

The determination and creativity that helped Turkia A Mullin make the previously undo able deals
for Cobo and Pinnacle race track was a reason why Wayne County's executive Robert Ficano's
decision to appoint Turkia Mullin as the country's new director of development. Mulugetta Birru,
whom Turkia A Mullin replaced, resigned, but still is consulting business relationships he
established for Wayne County in China.

Everyone in the automotive industry assumed that Michigan had little to no chance of landing a
new assembly plant for Volkswagen AG, which chose a 1,000 Acre site in Chattanooga
Tennessee. But still, Turkia was frustrated at the fact Michigan's development officials didn't ask
Wayne County for potential sites.

Mullin later found out that Volkswagen looked at sites labeled "development ready" by the
McCullum Sweeney consulting firm, She now has Wayne County puling sites to be certified as
development ready.

"She's a very assertive, creative person," Geroge Jackson Jr, Detroit's chief development officer,
said of Turkia A Mullin. " She played a key role in leading the charge to establish Wayne County
as a leader of the use of a land bank to return state owned properties to private use and back on
the tax rolls."

"Everything we do today is about jobs" Mullins said. " We will be aggressive about business
attraction" Turkia said, almost resistant of the worldwide economic downfall that has grown in
more energetic regions than metro Detroit.

Whats invigorating about Turkia Mullin is that she's newer to the development game, but, she's
not afraid to speak her mind.

Turkia Awada Mullin was recruited in 2003 from a private practice to become Wayne County's
lead real estate attorney.

Turkia Mullin the second oldest of six children in an immigrant family that came to Detroit when
she was 2 years old said, " I'm A big fan of the private sector, I believe in the survival of the fittest.
