Bio:

Ilias is an Algerian-born Australian producer, composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & singer from Bondi Beach,
Australia.
Ilias' complex musical background and stylings come from a deep passion for African-American music as well as
years spent living and honing his musical skills & craft in Brazil & France. A self taught, composer, guitarist, bassist,
singer & keyboard player, Ilias music engulfs many diverse influences such as 60's Brazilian chord progressions, Bee
Gees/Beach Boys type vocal harmonies & leads, Prince/Smokey Robinson-inspired falsettos, and highly melodic &
soulful guitar playing. Ilias' music has been described as deep, haunting & hypnotic as well as jazzy, bluesy and
textured. Ilias' aim of creating a sound of his own has often been noted in reviews and fan comments and it is often
impossible to categorise his music in one particular style or musical movement:
From the light acoustic pop of "My Girl With Blue Eyes" to the swampy electronic rhythms of "Lonely" as well as jazzy
moods of "Sometimes I Wonder", "Never Utter The Word Never" and the epic instrumental "September Memory",
Ilias' music is meticulously crafted but remains personal, honest and touching.
Selected review (by The Lionheart's Den)
This is music to enchant and thrill. I just love this EP by Sydney-based artist Ilias. Its evocative title 'Somewhere
Down the Road' is apt for the listening experience that follows. All four tracks are tied together by a most elegant
mood of melancholy and, dare I say, longing. The cool jazzy guitar sets the tone; mellow and laid-back. You can
sense a breeze coming in from the beach in the colours and textures of 'My Girl with Blue Eyes', in my opinion one of
the strongest of the tracks on this excellent EP. In fact, in a very subtle way Ilias's songs seem to reference that cool,
chilled Brazilian style of music.
And yet, Ilias's voice ensures an originality that is impressive and refreshing. 'Regret' is memorable and reminiscent
of loss and acceptance. 'Somewhere Down the Road' carries the sophisticated aura of this album forward. In short,
Ilias is a startlingly skilful musician but more than that his music and voice are eminently uplifting, beautiful and
sincere (Richard Van Der Draay).
