Brochure
Description:
I designed this Brochure to be a family newsletter. It tells of Adventures/highlights
that have taken place, recently , for our family.
Programs:
Adobe InDesign
Date:
Completed July 12, 2014
Course:
Communications 130: Visual Media
Instructor:
Emily Kunz
Objectives:
To design and print a professional brochure which includes: four quality images, one of
them being clipped and text wrapped; a color scheme; an original, newly created logo,;
and paragraph styles.
Process:
I used adobe Illustrator to create a logo. I knew I wanted to have the O be a head, but I
was overjoyed when I found that Giddyup Std. had an o that looked like a babys head. I
used the O and added a little strand of hair on the other side to add my own touch to it.
It was super simple to design, but I really like it!
I learned that Illustrator has a section in the color swatches that shows different color
schemes. That was awesome because I knew what colors I wanted to use, and was able
to get accuracy in a color scheme. I then created an InDesign document and brought my
logo over to it.
I watched a tutorial a few weeks ago on how to make curves and shaped text boxes, and
so that was a fun trick to implement. In the past I have only used InDesign for text and
placing images, so it was fun to use the pen tool. I then placed some images into my
document. Surprisingly, the images I chose all went pretty amazingly with my color
scheme.
I then Chose another photo and edited it in Photoshop. I clipped the image and then
made a word wrap around it. I had to tr many different things with this step because
I originally only had 3 images. I was already familiar with paragraph and character
styles, so I had already implemented those in when I added filler text to my document.

About Our Family
Our family enjoys walks in the park, eating together, and
playing together. We love making banana milkshakes, and Aaron
sometimes makes the for breakfast. We love spending time
together, and making memories as a family. One day, we would
like to have a little farm
with some animals and
a large garden. We
would also love to
have a fruit orchard.
Our Beautiful Children!
Aaron had his 2nd
birthday on June
16th. Grandpa
surprised him by
brining Curious
George to his
birthday party.
There have been many
Adventures and highlights
for Violet recently. She
began sitting and crawling
last month. She also began
eating cheerios, and other
solids that she can pick up
on her own. She also has
switched clothing sizes, so all
of her outfts are brand new
right now. She loves being
able to crawl around and
get things for herself. She
feels like a big girl!

Highlights
Aaron and Karalee
Recently, Aaron and I got to go on our frst
real date in like a year. It was so fun, and
stress-free! Some of the activities we did on
our date were:
Go out to dinner at Satomi Sushi
Bowl two game. One game was regular, the
other game was Skittle Bowling.
Watch The Secret of Moonacre on
Netfix at Aarons parents house.
We enjoyed spending this time together, and
then being able to go home and not have to
put the kids to bed. Our babysitter, Elizabeth
Champion, was so sweet. We were only
planning on being gone for like 2 hours, but
she told us to take advantage and to come
home in 4 or 5 hours. We did not know what
to do with ourselves. We almost came home,
but when we walked to the door and heard
Aaron playing, we decided to fnd something
else to do.
WE DECIDED THAT WE NEED TO HAVE LITTLE
ADVENTURES LIKE THESE MORE OFTEN, ESPECIALLY
BECAUSE WE RARELY GET TIME ALONE, AND WE ARE
ALWAYS SO BUSY.
