While completing this field experience, I became much more familiar and fluent in the programming necessary to maintain and manage an effective website for my school. I was also able to use the State Common Core Standards to come up with applicable websites and resources that can supplement instruction in the classroom. I was also able to take a leadership role by starting this online initiative that will hopefully open the door for Flipping the Classroom in the future.
This activity was important as an Instructional Technology Specialist because the work is done to benefit the faculty and student body on academic and technological levels. This step is the first small step toward Flipping the Classroom. Flipping the Classroom is an initiative that I would like to begin slowing instituting into New Holland Knowledge Academy. This activity was important to demonstrate to teachers how our school website can be used to benefit the students and support classroom learning.
Assessing the functionality and helpfulness of this initiative can be made during my monthly meetings with grade levels and faculty. By using new technologies to support instruction, this field experience supports the vision of the technology department of Gainesville City. Using the input from teachers, I intend to keep these links up to date and relevant to content in the classroom. Based on the input received from the faculty, I will make changed and amendments to the content that I have uploaded thus far.
