Programme Controller

Industrial Trainee
Description of the business environment:
The IT Programme Controller will report to the Programme Office Manager and will be
part of a multi-skilled group of professionals and support staff providing matrix support
services to Programme Managers in all phases of their respective programmes life
ccle! This is a supporting role re"uiring good #udgement across the whole range of
programme management activities and will provide the necessar Programme
Performance Management process focus!
Duties / Responsibilities:
$emonstrate value add and enthusiasm to the Programme Managers!
%ppling &M best practise to deliver an integrated capabilit in 'chedule
Management( Cost Management( )arned *alue Management +)*M, and -isk .
Opportunit Management!
Provide programme planning and scheduling support and expertise to the
Programme Managers and 'enior Planners / 'chedulers!
$evelop and implement a Programme 0usiness -hthm ensuring alignment with
&M12 I'( M'3 and &M Corporate 0usiness -hthms!
4ork with the various Programme Managers to develop( implement and
subse"uentl manage the twelve Programme Management &eading Indicators
+as re"uired,!
Provide support to the Programme Managers to ensure a robust )*M 'stem
+)*M', is established ensuring compliance with Corporate re"uirements and to
support the annual )*M' audit!
4ork with the Programme Managers to ensure successful 0aseline -eviews
within 56 das of Contract %ward and the subse"uent annual Performance
%ssessment -eviews +P%-,!
Provide cohesive and logical programme schedules suitable for planning(
prioritising and monitoring the team7s workload and for establishing the schedules
baseline( suppliers and customer activities( dependencies( deliverables and
milestones!
Identifing( "uantifing( tracking and reporting of risks and opportunities and their
associated mitigation / capture plans!
$eliver a cost management service which ensures the cost baseline is
established and subse"uentl controlled b disciplined amendment principle(
practices and processes( &ead Internal Programme -eviews +IP-, meetings(
ensure actions are closed!
Organise an efficient structure of programme reviews covering -isk( 'chedule
and Cost and provide timel reports to the Programme Manager( executive
management and the customer +under direction of the Programme Managers, as
appropriate!
Provide support to the Programme Managers with the development and
maintenance of the programme 4ork 0reakdown 'tructure +40',!
&iaise with Programme 8inancial Control +P8C, to understand and ensure that
the Control %ccount 'tructure is fit for purpose!
1ndertake the generation . presentation of the 5 monthl Comprehensive
)stimate at Completion +C)%C, 2ick Off briefing( ensuring the C)%C Process is
coordinated to deliver a professional out briefing to the )xecutive Management
team!
'upport the Control %ccount Managers with the establishment of )arned *alue
+)*, plans( the appropriate use of )* techni"ues and variance reporting!
4ork with the Programme Managers in support of proposal preparation and new
business capture!
Provide input to proposals in terms of 0asis of )stimates +0O), and plans for the
activities to be carried out!
Provide usage of &M tools( such as9
o )lectronic $ocument Management 'stem +)$M', and its replacement
+4indchill,
o 0usiness Management 'stem +0M',
o Process %sset &ibrar +P%&,
o Programme Control Management 'stem +Cobra,
o Predict *ersion : and or -)M' / -O%$' and the associated processes
o 'ubcontractor Time -ecording %pplication +'T-%P,( Procurement
)lectronic -e"uisition Control +P)-C, and Che"uers!
0e responsible for the continuing compliance to internal and external processes
and regulator re"uirements!
Participation in development( documenting( execution( monitoring and
improvement of department processes to ensure economic( rapid responses to
existing and new customer re"uirements!
&iaise with management and specialists in the functional matrix( especiall P8C(
'ub-contract Programme Management +'PM,( Technical and Ma#or 'ub-
contracts +M'C, to ensure the tools and processes are current and meet
business needs!
%ssist the Programme Managers with delivering a Programme Performance
Management Process-6; +PPMP-6;, compliant programme!
Essential Skills:
0e a proficient user of M' Pro#ect / Open Plan and )xcel!
<ave a =can do= attitude with the abilit to be energetic and enthusiastic at all
times!
Practice good ethics during everda work!
%ble to develop( or facilitate the development of( solutions to complex problems

)xperience of working with enterprise management sstems and tailoring of
processes!
