MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 49- 51; Romans 9
Monday, July 28
Rev. 21: 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
Glorious God and Almighty Father:
Camp week! Make some sinner new today! Make new someone battered
and worn-down by battle. Make new someone scarred by sin. Only you can
renew. Please, Sir, if you will, let today be that glorious day when I can be used of
you to take your regenerating gospel to __________ or to __________.
Isnt it time for the Holy Spirit to move through my life and reach the heart
of someone? No one else can make all things new like you did when you saved
my soul. When you made the earth it was created out of nothing, but when you
saved me, I was re-created out of sin! So use me soon (even today) to bring the
message of the redeeming sacrifice of Christ to the lost.
Already you are identifying subjects for your kingdom. For centuries you
providentially persevered to make new hearts in men and women who trust you,
and preserved our society by faith in you. Help me Lord, as I seek to participate
with you in that task, engaging your Eternal Purpose until the fulness of the Gentiles be
come in (Rom. 11:25).
Thank you for allowing me to be your tool to make souls new, even now. I
long for the time when you will also make government new, and when even
nature will be changed by your grace. Everything will be made new in your
kingdom by the power of the Great King!
I am not dying; I am just hurrying on to a more glorious life. Despite the
opposition of the powers of evil, you are able to accomplish your purpose
through me. Make everything about me so new to others that they want what I
have in Jesus! Give me your grace and anoint me for outreach together with other
believers. For I ask it in Jesus precious and wonderful name. Amen.
TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 52- 54; Romans 4
Tuesday, July 29
Mat t . 27: 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the
ninth hour.
Merciful Savior:
From nine till noon. There could be no mistake you were really nailed to
the cross, because you were crucified in broad daylight. We are certain it was you,
the Jesus of Nazareth, because both friends and foes were eyewitnesses to your
agonies. For three long hours the Romans and Jews sat there and watched.
Behold, a purple torrent run down from His hands and head,
The crimson tide puts out the sun; His groans awake the dead.
If you can do this in weakness, what are you able to do in strength? Your
power was displayed in a sphere where you did not normally exercise your might,
and yet you gloriously prevailed.
Isa. 28: 21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in
the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his
strange act.
From noon till three. You entered the sphere of the dark underworld,
making and working judgment. It was your strange workwonders of terror and
left-handed deeds. Even the heavens bore the mark of your dying power and lost
their brightness. It was a midday midnight; it must call us out of our apathy!
Those who nailed you were cowed but not convicted. Help me not be like
them. As I draw near to your cross, moving down the corridors of time through
this prayer, every event is meaningful. Show me light out of this darkness. I am
standing next to impossibilities, because it is not possible to have an eclipse of the
sun at the time of the full moon. So because of that I now know it was your
work, a strange act, Lord. Behold, God can actually die! Behold the Son of God!
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 55- 57; Romans 11
Wednesday, July 30
Gal . 4: 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your
hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Abba, Father:
Your Spirit has put the spirit of a child in me. That nature is what you are
continually prompting, exciting, developing and maturing. This is important,
because I never have revival unless I relate as a child toward my Father.
Sometimes the spirit of a slave creeps over me instead, and I get discontent
when I do not see visible success. But Lord, let me receive the spirit of adoption,
because a child works for love alone. A child will work to please its Father,
without a thought of payment. A child is satisfied with the sweet fact of being
approved by Dad. That spirit is what will give me peace in the midst of
persecution, rest in the midst of busyness, joy in the midst of sorrow, boldness in
the midst of fear, and familiar intimacy with God. If I do not receive the spirit
of a child, I will not know how to be revived.
Help me feel I am a child of the great Father. Let my childlike love be warm
towards you. That is what will make me fit to proclaim your peace to the
prodigals in the distant province of the pigs (Luke 15).
Rom. 1: 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of
holiness,
Only in proportion as I am holy can I claim to have revival at all. I confess
there is no holiness in me apart from your Holy Spirit! Because holiness is not
mere morality, it is not the outward keeping of rules through strong willpower.
Holiness is my complete being, fully consecrated to the Lord, and being
molded to his will to fulfill his mission. Give me that! It is the one thing I must
have. It will only come from your sanctifying Spirit. Lord, give me that! Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 58- 60; Romans 12
Thursday, July 31
BACK to the blessed old Bible, back to the city of God;
Back to the oneness of heaven, back where the faithful have trod.
Back from the land of confusion, passing the wrecks and the creeds;
Back to the light of the morning, Jesus our Captain leads.

Back to the blessed old Bible, saints of Jehovah, rejoice;
Jesus is calling His people back to the land of their choice.
Often our fathers have sought it while we in Babel abode,
Now we have found the fair citychurch of the living God.

Back to the blessed old Bible, leaving confusion and strife;
Fleeing from Babel to Zion, back to the joy of our life.
Over the mountains we wandered, looking in vain for the right;
Now in the evening weve found it: truth of the gospel light.

Back to the blessed old Bible, back at the Masters call,
Back to the words of our Savior, loving, obeying them all.
Never in sects to be scattered, never again to do wrong;
Unity, holiness, heaven, ever shall be our song.

Back to the blessed old Bible, back to the light of its word;
Be on our banners forever: Holiness unto the Lord.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 61- 63; Romans 13
Friday, August 1
Rom. 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what
we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
which cannot be uttered.
O, Heavenly Father:
We cry out for you to give the Holy Spirit to us in a special way this Camp
week. Be in us more and more mightily as the spirit of prayer. Make
intercession in us with groanings that cannot be uttered, so our church will not
miss your blessing for lack of asking for it!
This is our present weakness. This is the one great reason why the eternal
purpose of God does not spread more through our living the great commission.
Prayer is too much restrained and so the blessing is held back. True prayer will
always be systematized and formalized out of existence, unless your Spirit
stimulates our desires to pray, and makes us want to do so from the heart.
Rom. 5: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in
our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
You enable us to have communion in spiritual things. All sense of
community, as far as it is ever true, Christian fellowship, is always produced by
the Spirit of God and our right response to the scriptures. We have
continued together in peace and love for many years, not because of our good
temper, our wise management, or any other natural cause. But because your Spirit
has shed abroad your love in our hearts. Only your Spirit can still our naturally
rebellious nature. We need fellowship for mutual strength, guidance, help, and
encouragement. Without it, our church is merely a society or club.
Revive us in our love for one another! Let us love better now than we did at
the beginning. For Jesus holy sake we ask it. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Ps al m 64- 66; Romans 14
Saturday, August 2
Ps a. 127: 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows:
for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Great God the Creator:
As our all-church camp closes today I hear the word vain, ringing three
times through this Psalm. God give me direction, because without you I am
nothing; I am ambitious but worthless. I rise before I am rested. I keep working
past a reasonable hour. It seems like what I eat is washed down with salty tears.
He b. 3: 4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
Your blessing is my greatest necessity. Builders of systems and fortunes,
empires and megachurches all work in vain without it. Faith brings calm. Calm
conquers contention. Trust in you overcomes all my obstacles to rest. I can stop
fretting in frustration and fuming in anger, if only I exercise faith. Restore this to
my soul today!
Ps a. 127: 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is
his reward.
This is another way in which I am powerless to build a house. If I have
physical children I have to trust you to help me aim them at being a godly seed to
receive my inheritance. But also give me spiritual children, people I have
discipled, so I can leave a legacy behind for eternity! Favor me with children,
physical or spiritual who are obedient, compassionate, and consecrated to you
above all else and all other. Speak to them so you can speak through them. Use
them, after you use me to train them. Let us walk together in reaching our
generation for Christ, for he is worthy.
Children mean a lot of trials, but also a lot of love and opportunity. Help us
defeat Satan in the gate and build your body until you receive all the glory. Amen.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS
" PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
