Backpack Blessings

On Sunday August 24th we will recognize our students and teachers as we prepare for
the new school year. We will formally pray for and bless them as a congregation. As
part of our Milestones Ministries we will also take a moment to do a special blessing
for our students entering into Elementary School for the first time. We will ask these
students and their parents to come forward and we will impart upon them some gifts
and Scripture to encourage them as they enter this next stage in their lives as disciples
of Christ. The blessings and prayers will be done in both services. If you have students
entering into Elementary School this year please contact April Ramsey for more
specifics about this milestone celebration.

Blood Drive

Our next blood drive will be on Tuesday, August 5

Blood Center about scheduling an appointment, and you prefer not to receive these calls, please let
Marie Lau know and we'll have your name put on the 'do not call' list. Any questions: please call
Marie Lau 281-578-0964, or Joan Johnson 281-492-0488.

Volunteers Needed

Livin' in 3D is our family midweek gathering in which individuals of all ages learn what it means to
dwell in our relationships UP with God, IN with other believers and OUT to those who do not yet know
Jesus. It runs 6-8pm during the school year on Wednesday nights and involves dinner, family worship,
children's music/games/crafts, Junior High Confirmation classes, and Adult Bible Studies. We are in need
of new (and old) volunteers: crew leaders for elementary & pre-school, dinner helpers in cooking & clean
up, game leaders, music leaders, and craft helpers. For those who helped in the past please let April
know if you plan to do so again and if you want your same areas or new adventures. For new servants let
her know your passions and gifts and we would love to find a way for you to serve. 3D begins in
September so its time to fill roles and train helpers now.

Kenya Eyesight Clinic

As you know, we are getting ready for another trip to Kenya. I
realize October seems a long way off, but then so does Christmas,
and it always catches me rushing around at the last minute. The
crunch date is July 27, 2014 for commitment to the trip. We need
to know for sure who is going, and we need the non-refundable
deposit ($600.00) to secure tickets. Whether you intend to go or
not, please keep the trip in your prayers and talk it up to other
potential participants. Applications are available in our respective
Church offices, and information for first timers is on a print out. Thank you for your past participation and we look forward to another
new experience in October. God bless you and please let us know as soon as possible.

Summer Family Fun And Fellowship Events: Christ Clinic Lunches

Dear families through out the summer we enjoy coming together to get to know one another through fellowship and service. So far
this year we have had a day at the park, a day at the movies, game night, and swimming. For our next gathering we want to shift the
focus a little and use it as an opportunity to give back to our community. As such we are going to meet on Wednesday July 23rd in
the gym from 6-8pm to make sack lunches for the patients at Christ Clinic. The goal is to make around 100 lunches. We will gather
together and prep them and also decorate the outside of the bags with drawings and Scripture verses. This will be an activity
individuals of all ages can help with. Let April Ramsey (281-703-9743) know if you have questions. We will need the following items
donated:

1) loaves of bread white, wheat or whole grain (no nuts)
2) jelly
3) Nutella
