Juicing Tips
It can sometimes be diffcult for the juicer
to juice fresh herbs because of their size
and shape. To remedy this, you can either
squeeze the herbs into a ball or wrap the
herbs in one of the other juice ingredients,
such as a leaf of lettuce.
Dry herbs and spices can also have trouble
going through the juicer. Be sure to throw them
in at the same time as other ingredients. The
juices from other fruits and vegetables will
absorb the favor in the dry herbs and spices
as theyre crushed by the auger. You may also
add them directly to your fnished juice rather
than sending them through the juicer.

The seeds of peppers are the hottest part of the
fruit. Remove seeds from peppers before you
juice. If when your juice is fnished you feel like
it needs an extra kick, you can always juice the
seeds at the end.
Carrots are very dense and can get stuck in
the auger. Be sure to cut them into thin sticks
before juicing.
Hard pits need to be removed from fruits such as
cherries and peaches before juicing.
Peels may be left on fruits and vegetables when
juicing. For better or worse, peels will affect the
taste of your juice. Citrus fruit rinds can have the
most noticeable favor, and in the recipes are
recommendations on whether to juice some
citrus fruits with or without the rinds. But its really
just a matter of taste, so feel free to experiment.

Uses for Pulp
When youre finished juicing, dont throw all that
pulp away! There are many fun and nutritious
things to do with pulp. Just keep in mind that
whatever solids you put in the juicer come out as
pulp. So if you dont remove pineapple rinds or
fruit stems before juicing, this will end up in your
pulp and it wont be quite so tasty. If you plan on
using your pulp, remove thick peels, large stems,
or anything else you dont want in your pulp.

Veggie Dip
Mix veggie pulp to taste with 1 block cream
cheese, 1 cup sour cream, and 1/4 cup milk for
a delicious dip. Serve it with chips, pretzels, bread,
or a vegetable tray. Juice recipes that yield great
pulp for Veggie Dip are Cool Celery Refresher and
Fresh Bloody Mary.
Fruit Dip
Mix fruit pulp with 1 block cream cheese and
1 cup heavy whipping cream. If desired, sweeten
with honey or agave nectar to taste. Serve with
sliced fruit or pastry bread. Juice recipes that yield
great pulp for Fruit Dip are Grapefruit Kicker and
Island Zinger.

Peanut and Almond Butter
If you run shelled peanuts through the juicer,
youll get peanut oil from the juice extractor and
dry peanut pulp from the pulp ejector. Mix them
back together, and you have 100% natural peanut
butter. The same can be done with almonds.
If youre watching your fat intake, this procedure
allows you to control the amount of oil you add into
the nut pulp so it can be just as creamy as it needs
to be. Any leftover oil can be used for cooking.
Sandwich Spread
Mix vegetable pulp with cream cheese to make
a delicious sandwich spread. You can enhance
the flavor even more by adding herbs and spices.

Fruit Leather
Sweet fruit pulp is best for fruit leather. However,
if you feel like it needs to be a little sweeter, add
honey or agave nectar to taste. Thinly spread the
mixture on a cookie sheet. If you have trouble
spreading, mix a small amount of juice or water
to the mixture. You may want to lay wax paper
over the cookie sheet so that its easier to peel
off the Fruit Leather once it is finished. Dry out in
a dehydrator, in the sun, or overnight in an
oven set on low. Leave the oven door open so
moisture can escape.
Veggie Biscuits
Bake pulp from tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic,
peppers and more into your favorite biscuit dough.
26
Fruity Pancakes
Pancakes are even more fun with fruit. Simply mix
fruit pulp into pancake batter for exciting, fruity
flapjacks.
Carrot Pulp Is Versatile
Carrot pulp has a mild, versatile flavor and can be
added to a lot of different recipes to make them
more nutritious. Cook it into pasta sauce, meatballs,
and burgers. Bake it into bread and cakes. Mix it
into dips, salads, and mac & cheese. And once
youre experienced with adding carrot pulp, feel
free to experiment with other veggie pulp.
