Jesper Lekland
Software Engineer
About me Hi! My name is Jesper and I am a 24 year old outgoing and
driven individual whos majoring in computer science. Im at the end of
my studies, in fact Im graduating this fall. Im highly motivated and a
person who likes a lot on his plate. So much that I have completed my
masters in parallel with a lot of extra curricular activities, some of which
have been considered full time work. I work great with other people and
consider myself a natural leader.
Experience
2009 - present, Masters in Computer Science
Since September 2009 I have been enrolled at the Computer Science pro-
gram at Lunds Tekniska H ogskola (LTH) during which I have specialized
in software engineering.
Master Thesis
My master thesis is titled User Independent Recognition of Gym Exer-
cises with a Wrist Worn Accelerometer and was done in collaboration
with Sony Mobile Communications AB and the Department Of Computer
Science at Lunds Tekniska H ogskola. The thesis takes a simple wrist
worn triaxial accelerometer, places the wearer at the gym and tries to
correctly predict what exercises they are doing based solely on the raw
accelerometer data. The raw data is sent via Bluetooth to an Android ap-
plication who does the predictions and presents the data in a useful form
to the user. The thesis involved both data collection, data analysis, An-
droid development, Java server development, R-development, algorithm
development and research.

Worked part time at a ICA grossery store as a sales clerk, postal agent
and store worker.
May 2012 - July 2012, Phone salesman
Summer employment where I during the course of two months became
one of the top 3 sellers at the company.
2013, Gym instructor
In 2013 I worked extra time at the gym being a gym instructor
Volunteer work
2013, Head of introductions During my 5 years at LTH I took on a lot
of extra curricular activities. The biggest part was without doubt when
I was elected Head of introductions or

Overph os in Swedish terms, in

2013. Each department (Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry etc) se-
lects one person each year to take care of the freshmen during a four
week period and arrange the activity known as nollning, a four week,
nearly non stop, string of events where the freshmen are introduced to
the student life. This is strongly supported by the University and con-
sidered an essential part of the students introduction. To put it in per-
spective each department receives up to 200 freshmen each year and to
tackle this task I led a team of ve people, who in turned lead a team of
nearly 100 people to make all this come together. This was a full time
commitment for an entire year.
2012-2013, Foreman During three semesters I took the role of foreman
at a local Student Nation (similar, but not equal to a fraternity/sorority)
knows as Lunds Nation with about 3000 members. Here I was respon-
sible for everything technical at the club, i.e sound and effects (light,
smoke etc). After two semesters I switched to being responsible for the
lunch, planning, cooking and serving lunch for about 70 students leading
a team of 3-6 people.
2013, Board member During 2013 I was acting board member of the
student organisation, Datatekniksektion at Lunds University.
2014, Toastmaster In 2014 I was elected toastmaster for the department
of computer science.
I would like to highlight that everything mentioned above are activities
undertaken in parallel with my Master studies and are all volunteer work.
I really think that these four sections highlights my natural leader ability,
my ability to work well with others and my social skills as a comple-
mented to my academic vein.
