CONTACTS
New functions in iOS8
Sync w/ Facebook & Twitter
(MacLife)
Contacts is now integrated with
Facebook, so the Contacts app on all our
devices can be populated with
information from Facebook, including
birthdays and photos of your friends.
This means email addresses or phone
numbers youre missing can be added in
automatically by iOS with barely any e!ort
from you. The Contacts app also syncs
with Twitter, pulling in peoples Twitter
handles, and again bringing in photos of
them.
Sync w/ MS Exchange
(MacLife)
Microsoft Exchange: link to the account in
question by tapping Settings > Mail,
Contacts, Calendars > Add Account and
then choose the appropriate service.
Apple now expects all syncing to be
performed using its iCloud service, with
the option removed in iTunes.
Sync w/ Other Accounts
(MacLife)
1.) At the top, you see your iCloud
account is there, with the option to add a
new account beneath.
2.) Tap it, and you see you can sync with
many popular online services, including
Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Exchange
and Outlook.
3.) Choose one, type in your details, and
you can pull in your contacts from that
service.
Or Manually Import
(MacLife)
OR manually import your contact list
into iCloud, provided youre able to
export your contacts as vCards.
Go to Contacts, click the cog in the
bottom-left corner, and click Import
vCard. Then just select the le.
It syncs across all of your iOS devices.
Change Info as Necessary
(MacLife)
To make changes to a contacts entry in
the Contacts app, tap the name you want,
then tap the Edit button at the top-right
of the screen.
Add a Photo
(MacLife)
To add one, tap the contacts entry, then
Edit, and Add Photo.
You can take a new photo using your iPad
if you wish, or tap Choose Photo if you
already have a pic of the person.
Click on an Action Trigger
(MacLife)
You can see all your options clearlyjust
tap one to trigger the default action.
Usually, though, you see little symbols to
the right of each class of information.
PRINTING
To use AirPrint, open an app and select what you want to
print. Then, tap the arrow icon at the bottom of the screen.
This will bring up another menu, where you will select the print
icon. Next you select your printer and number of copies.
Of course, you'll need a printer that works with AirPrint.
Many popular brands have AirPrint printers available
including Dell, Canon, Epson, HP, Samsung and Xerox, just
to name a few.

TRANSFER / COPY FILES
CopyBin
Sharing data between two different types of Apple devices is
laborious and cumbersome anyway you put it. Airdrop helped.
Dropbox, Google Docs, and OneNote helped. But still not easy.
Copybin has not been designed with a focus on style or to
impress anyone with their visuals; a few minutes with this app and
you can see exactly why none of that even matters. Because with
Copybin, you can transfer almost any video (play using VLC on
iOS), audio, text and documents.
Click on the Copybin icon and drag anything you want to transfer
into the box and it will be transferred instantly. In fact, if you copy
any body of text, it will automatically transfer to Copybin linked
devices.
There are other synchronization solutions available to users as
well, an economical $0.99 purchase will unlock the full version.
