This Blast e-mail will be terse; it will reinforce points already established regarding Israel and Illegals;

polling data are beginning to congeal, predictive of a close race regarding Senate Control. It is desirable
to start with a bit of levity [Hot Crazy Matrix - A Man's Guide to Women] and to note that the Common
Core PR war is successful, per Politico.

Chapter 13 of DSouzas book [America] capsulizes BHOs foreign policy, quoting from
an article by Doug Feith [whom I tutored in math, once, a half-century ago]; he served
with other neo-cons in the Bush Administration [led by Paul Wolfowitz]. Noting that the
post-WW-II policy of containment of the USSR had been articulated by George Kennen
[in 1947], it was suggested that BHOs Doctrine is one of self-containment [loosely
translated as American withdrawal from the world]. [Illustrative of the failure of BHOs
policies is awareness that the DIA Chief found the Al Qaeda Ideology Rapidly Expanding
and that the New ISIL Mag Touts Ethics of Execution, Targets Sen. McCain]. I disagree
with DSouza when he claimed the Iraq war was a mistake, but he properly notes
Americas wars were not based upon the desire to conquer, unlike the motives of other
colonial [European] countries; this is consistent with his thesis that the world would
have been a far worse place if one imagines a world without America.

I disagree with your claim that the Iraqi war was a mistake [p. 212]; it
was not just based upon WMD suspicion, recalling the numerous
Security Council resolutions that had been violated.

Recall that EVERYONE [including Saddam] thought he had them [based
upon wiretaps, c/o DebkaFile, if memory serves] because his ministers
wanted to tell him what he wanted to hear.

He also was a terrorist [rewarding families of suicide/homicide bombers
with $25K]; remember that Colin Powells UN-speech was half-and-half
WMD/terrorismand that the surge worked.

The total-gross for this flick [after a month of viewings] is $13,242,504.
I have continued to blog about the name-change of the Independence Hall Foundation:

It is possible to conclude that this entity successfully accomplished its
serial goals, establishing itself as a durable force among its supporters; it
never really interacted with other TEA Party Movement entities
[constantly going-it-alone programmatically], so the name-change
actually served to catch-up with reality.

Remember, the TEA denotes Taxed Enough Already and, as is
readily apparent both in the article and in Teris narrative, the ambit of
this entity extended beyond economics; the key-challenge will be
whether it can remain relevant after retrenching, for I suspect the
Adams-Siblings have been exhausted by a half-decade of self-motivated
activism.

There will always be people who reflexly scorn the work of others; they
should, perhaps, take pause before attacking so that they can acquaint
themselves with what they are about to trash, for such blogging only
serves to reveal their ignorance.

Israel:
Israel knew about the tunnels, an issue that will be debated extensively; the database has emerged.
[Recall that this was the major concern raised during the three teleconferences held last week; it was
also the basis of the question I submitted to one of them, ahead-of-time.]
Obama Placed Heavy Pressure on Israel to Cease Fire - This triggered more than 50 blog-entries,
including my defense of BB [excerpted]:

A Senior Officer claimed We Have All of the Attack Tunnels, although he feels a few
more days are needed to dispose of the remaining tunnels. Thus, if a few innovations
[such as monitoring for future tunnels] are implemented, can this be perceived as
having achieved the goal of quiet?

*

Its difficult to blame BB for whatever hasnt been done, in light of BHOs intransigence.

*

I have a bet with my son regarding the outcome; I feel Israel will maintain a buffer-rim,
for policing purposes, whereas he doesnt [notwithstanding BHOs protestations that
the 2012 line should be maintained].

*

BB is negotiating himself through a series of scylla and charybdis challenges;
meanwhile, the tunnels are unearthed and he adheres to the Egyptian formula.

*

{Just because you have chosen to use this fancyshamacy term instead of plain between
a rock and hard place does not absolve your high school buddy. }

Somehow, the mythological creatures seem more threatening and, thus, better fit the
current circumstances.

Israel will only hit targets when provoked.

Inside Gaza with the Givati Brigade - After we enter Gaza, Maj. Yaron, the Givati Brigade
operations officer, says, "There are booby trapped houses here. In several cases, we
fired at a house and the entire structure disappeared. The entire building went up in the
air." The Givati troops arrived at this Hamas stronghold from behind, from an entry
point that the terrorists didn't anticipate. "The fact that we surrounded them had an
effect," Yaron explains. "At first there was a lot of contact. They fired anti-tank missiles
and small arms. But then the terrorists simply fled. They disappeared, leaving behind a
lot of ammunition. They don't have commanders in the field. Their company
commanders, regiment commanders, brigade commanders are al underground. We also
found a control room with antennas and televisions. A war room designed to collect
information about the IDF, about our troops. It was booby trapped with explosives, and
when we realized that we blew it up," says Maj. Netanel, a Givati Brigade commander.
Brigade Commander Col. Ofer Vinter said, "The IDF is winning by doing what it knows
how to do....I say to the Israeli public: Don't be afraid for us. The IDF is strong.
Sometimes things aren't easy, but the fighting isn't so hard here. They fight and run."
The Battle of Sejaiya - 1 - During the fighting in Sejaiya in Gaza on July 20, the Golani
Brigade had been under fire for several hours, said an IDF officer involved in the fighting.
"The enemy was spread in every direction, and was shooting....Working with the
knowledge of the enemy's location, we put all the Golani soldiers in the Namers [the
army's best APCs]...and we laid down fire" only 100 meters away. Artillery fired 600
shells at Sejaiya as planes bombed from above, "after which there was no more
shooting from there, not even light weapons." The next day as well, in an aerial attack
that included about 100 one-ton bombs, the Israel Air Force dropped bombs only about
250 meters away from IDF ground troops.
The Battle of Sejaiya - 2 - A senior army source from the Artillery Corps provided a
chilling account on Sunday of the battle that raged in Sejaiya on July 20, when a Golani
infantry force sent to search for tunnels came under a massive attack by Hamas' Shejaia
Battalion, made up of 8-900 highly trained armed men. In a coordinated fashion, the
gunmen emerged from "the metro under Sejaiya" and launched a massive wave of anti-
tank, mortar, sniper and automatic gunfire from buildings surrounding the Golani force.
"I saw that enemy cells had come to within 40 meters of our forces." At this stage, the
Artillery Corps mapped out the location of enemy forces, and three artillery battalions
rained fire on Sejaiya while Hamas continued to blast the soldiers with mortars from all
around the neighborhood. After 20 minutes of shelling, silence ensued.

Investigation: IDF Fire Did Not Killed Palestinians at UNRWA School - The IDF has
conducted a comprehensive inquiry regarding the incident in which an UNRWA school
was fired upon. The inquiry concluded that during intense fighting between IDF forces
and Hamas militants, the militants operated adjacent to the UNRWA school. The
militants fired anti-tank missiles at IDF soldiers, who then responded by firing several
mortars in their direction. The documented footage presented here concluded that a
single errant mortar landed in the courtyard of the UNRWA school when it was
completely empty. In light of the inquiry's findings, the IDF rejects the claim that people
were killed on the school premises as a result of IDF operational activity.

Israel is allegedly Losing a War It's Winning, according to The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg
[a lib, restating the obvious, but exaggerating its import]: 1. In a fight between a state
actor and a non-state actor, the non-state actor can win merely by surviving. 2. Hamas's
strategy is to bait Israel into killing Palestinian civilians, and Israel usually takes the bait.
[3.] People talk a lot about the Jewish lobby. But the worldwide Muslim lobby is bigger,
comprising, among other components, 54 Muslim-majority states in the United Nations
[4.] If you've spent any time these past few weeks on Twitter, or in Paris, you know that
anti-Semitism is another source of Israel's international isolation. [5.] Israel's political
leadership has done little in recent years to make their cause seem appealing.

Israel can Achieve a Demilitarized Gaza - David Horovitz interviews Col. Richard Kemp, a
former commander of British troops in Afghanistan; he is notorious for his robust
defense of the morality of Israel's army and his empathy for the challenges Israel faces
from Hamas and other Islamic extremist groups seeking its destruction.
He cautioned, "It's preferable to end with a diplomatic solution only if and when the IDF
believes there has been sufficient damage to Hamas and/or you are confident that
Hamas is so restricted as to significantly reduce the threat it poses."
He did recommend something Israel could do to boost its security - encroaching deeper
into Gaza to carve out "a more substantial buffer zone that would provide some defense
against the cross border tunnels." But he immediately acknowledged that there would
be heavy international criticism for the removal of Gaza's civilian population that this
would entail.
"The language of extreme violence has more leverage here [in this region]. But that's
not on the table in the 21st century....That's not feasible or desirable." Therefore, he
concluded, "You're in an enduring situation....It's a matter of containment, rather than
resolution."
He added, "As the Gaza lessons show, how could Israel possibly come to any agreement
with the Palestinian Authority which would allow them full sovereignty in the West
Bank? Maybe in 20, 50 years. But in the world today, it's not possible for Israel, with its
security needs, to withdraw its forces significantly from the West Bank."
Israel deserves full support for what is a "legal, lawful operation, [a case of] Israel
defending itself," he said. When that full support is not forthcoming, that encourages
the extremists.

It is necessary to rebut an article [plus commentary on last nights Special Report on FNC @ 6:37 p.m.]
by Ron Fournier [Why Benjamin Netanyahu Should Be Very, Very Worried]; after having trotted-out the
usual demographic concerns [which are largely rebutted by noting the high birth-rate among Orthodox],
cited are three instances that are claimed to reflect the need for a fresh Israeli narrative:
Consider these three stories and a question raised by each:

NBC pulled foreign correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin out of the Gaza Strip, raising
questions about whether his empathetic coverage of Palestinians led to his removal.
Brian Stelter, who covers the media for CNN, said his reporting "strongly suggests that
this was a situation caused by network news infighting and bureaucracy." Public
backlash played a role in Mohyeldin's return to Gaza, Stelter said. Question: A decade or
so ago, would a news organization receive this much pressure for a staffing decision?

During the Gulf War, CNN correspondent Peter Arnett [served the propaganda
interests of Saddam [Reporter Tells Iraqis His Work Aids Antiwar Effort]:
Correspondent Peter Arnett, who is reporting from Baghdad on the U.S.-led
bombing for NBC News and cable TV's National Geographic Explorer, gave an
interview to Iraqi state television in which he said his reports from the city are
helpful to the U.S. antiwar movement and praised Iraq's treatment of foreign
reporters. {As a result, he was firedand then rehired.}

A Palestinian-American teenager accused Israeli authorities of beating him. Upon his
return to Tampa Fla., 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir said, "No child, whether they are
Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to die." Question: A decade or so ago, would the beating
be covered at all? As much?

Rioting U.S. teen [had been throwing rocks in eastern Jerusalem] released.

CNN correspondent Diana Magnay tweeted that the Israelis cheering bombs hitting
Gaza, and who had allegedly threatened her, were "scum." The network pulled her off
the story. Question: A decade or so ago, would a network correspondent broadcast her
bluntly negative opinion about Israeli soldiers? (What are the chances a network
reporter would even think to call Israelis scum?)

{Think Watergate.}

How to Talk About the Gaza Conflict

Illegals:
A new poll from Economist/YouGov shows 77% of the American people that the kids need to be sent
back home. A full 42% want the kids sent back immediately regardless of what's happening in their
home countries. Add to that another 35% who want them sent back unless their home country is
deemed unsafe. Only 11% want what Obama, Democrats, and the media want -- which is amnesty for
everyone. The numbers are similar for Hispanics; only 22% want to give the children amnesty.

Were All Becoming Border States Now [by Jim Geharthy]

Hundreds of illegal-immigrant children reach . . . Massachusetts?
DARTMOUTH, Mass. Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson said Monday
that he's dealing with a problem in Dartmouth that shouldn't be his
responsibility. It's not a new theme for him. He's sounded the alarm
about illegal immigrants before, but now he says it's getting closer and
closer to home.
Illegal immigrants come across the border in the American Southwest.
When they are detained, the wave of humanity has overwhelmed local
capacity. The illegal immigrants are being sent all over the country,
including Massachusetts.
"We're all becoming border states now. We want to know, what are the
trends? What's happening? What can we expect? We know there are
going to be more coming here from Texas. We've already got two
groups coming off the planes here," Hodgson said.
Its not just in Bristol County; Essex County north of Boston is also affected:
Lynn is a municipality on the brink. Key department officials say a recent influx of illegal
immigrant children and families in the city is stressing almost every service from trash
collection to healthcare.
"We have been aware of the unaccompanied children issue for quite a while, and we
were able to absorb a lot of these children early on," said Lynn Mayor Judith Flanagan
Kennedy. "But now it's gotten to the point where the school system is overwhelmed,
our health department is overwhelmed, the city's budget is being sustainably altered in
order of accommodate all of these admissions in the school department."
Flanagan Kennedy says the first contact for immigrant arrivals in the city is the school
system.
The amount of new foreign born student admissions has nearly doubled in the last two
years. This school year alone saw more than 600 new admissions. Among those
students, 248 were from Guatemala. Flanagan Kennedy says of those 248 children, 126
were illegal, undocumented minors.
And apparently not all of them are actually under 18:
Some of them have had gray hair and theyre telling you that theyre 17 years old and
they have no documentation, Jamie Cerulli, the Lynn mayors chief of staff, tells NRO.
If my children went to the public schools, Id be very uncomfortable with all of these
unaccompanied minors [that] are placed in the ninth grade.
We have a lawless administration that is ignoring state governments:
Nebraskans are anxious to learn what Gov. Dave Heineman finds out about the
approximately 200 children from Central America illegally being housed in the state.
Heineman tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KFAB in Omaha that this issue came as
a surprise to him. Heineman says he immediately started making calls and learned that
once the children leave the Department of Homeland Security they are handed over to
the Department of Health and Human Services.
Heineman says he spoke with a key policy advisor with that department and asked who
they were, where they were staying and who is paying their bill. He was told they have
no intention of sharing any information with him.
I cant believe in America that we have a federal government who is essentially secretly
transporting them to Nebraska, they are illegal immigrants, and they wont tell us who
they are, Heineman tells KFAB.
Look, citizens of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. We thought our president would
send this message to you, but apparently hes too busy with his fundraisers, issuing
statements on LeBron James signing with the Cavaliers, golfing with sportswriter
Michael Wilbon Saturday and looking forward to his Marthas Vineyard vacation.
So somebody has to say this: You have to take care of your own kids. You may have
heard us complaining that our federal government is becoming a nanny state, but we
didnt mean that our government is actually running a nanny service.
We understand gang violence, drug cartels, and other criminals are making your
countries terrible places to live. Were really sorry to hear that. Weve also given your
government quite a bit of money to make life better down there. Honduras, we gave
you $83 million in foreign aid in 2013. El Salvador: $46.8 million. Guatemala: $106
million. If the money wasnt spent well, take it up with your government. Some of you
might say thats not enough, but were not obligated to give you anything. There are a
hell of a lot of Americans who think that money could be better spent back here.
You have to fight to make your country a better place to live so that your fellow
countrymen will want to stay there. We cant fight your battles for you. In fact, this is a
particularly bad time to ask. You may have heard, twice in the past 13 years we went
into far-off countries with unstable governments and warlords and drugs, determined to
give the oppressed locals a better future. We spent way too much in blood and treasure,
the populace turned out to be a bunch of ingrates, and the local leadership ran the place
into the ground.
Alternately, we can try the Semisonic Closing Time approach: You dont have to go
home but you cant stay here. There are 202,000 square miles in Central America.
This is how Rush conceptualized BHOs entire approach to governance:
Is this a big announcement or not: Obama finally announces that he wants to close the
border? But not for Illegals, but for corporations leaving USA. They need to pay the
highest corporate taxes here.
So Obama was really ticked off. He wants to close the border to any corporation that
wants to relocate overseas. It is like the Berlin Wall, to keep the dictators serfs in! An
author notes that Obama is stuck in a Cold War mentality of nuclear freeze.
Coming out of Columbia University and prior raising, Obama thinks the United States is
the problem with the world. The United States thinking they can improve probems, is
the problem in Obamas views. Obama opposes USA working to solve human rights
issues in the world.
USSR was intent on spreading Communism. Leftists in America had no problem with
that. The hardliners that fought USSR were the problem to Obama and those like him.
According the doves we always insert and impose ourselves. To them, this is the
problem. Obama is stuck in the past and thinks it is the answer to the future. He is
tone-deaf, blaming America. He ignores the meaning and causes of American greatness.
The Left in this country hated Ronald Reagan. American Leftists ignore why we fought
back when missiles came to Cuba. In his speeches, Obama mentions the fall of the
Berlin Wall but never talks about who built the wall, and why.
This is who Obama was; this is who Obama is.
>>> It explains why he lets Illegals in and wants a border for corporations.

Politics [c/o Jim Gegharty, mirroring oral comments today by Dick Morris]:
National Review published a trove of internal memos Monday prepared for Georgia Democratic Senate
candidate Michelle Nunn late last year. They list her biggest weaknesses, codify a fundraising plan and
outline staff responsibilities.

The Massive New York Times & CBS Poll That Should Frighten Democrats
The New York Times and CBS News tried a massive endeavor to collect a lot more polling
data from everywhere in the country. The results even if they're iffy, and it's only late
July should send a chill down the spine of every Democrat:
On Sunday, the research firm YouGov, in partnership with The New York Times and CBS
News, released the first wave of results from an online panel of more than 100,000
respondents nationwide, which asked them their preferences in coming elections. The
results offer a trove of nonpartisan data and show a broad and competitive playing field
heading into the final few months of the campaign.
The Republicans appear to hold a slight advantage in the fight for the Senate and remain
in a dominant position in the House. They need to pick up six seats to gain Senate
control, and they hold a clear advantage in races in three states: South Dakota, Montana
and West Virginia. The data from YouGov, an opinion-research firm that enjoyed success
in 2012, finds the G.O.P. with a nominal lead in five additional states.
The five states where the Republicans hold a slight lead in the YouGov panel include
three Southern ones Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina where Democratic
incumbents face tough re-election contests and where Mitt Romney won in 2012.
Republicans also have a slight edge in Iowa and Michigan, two open seats in states that
usually vote for Democrats in presidential elections.
At the link, they discuss their methodology, the steps they took to ensure their online
sample reflected the population of offline voters, etc. If you want to dismiss that, and
conclude it's just an online poll, fine. That's your choice.
A couple reasons to find these results plausible:
It's not all roses and sunshine for Republicans. In Colorado, Cory Gardner, one of the
stronger GOP challengers, trails Sen. Mark Udall, 47 percent to 51 percent. In Alaska,
Begich leads both challengers listed. In the two GOP-held seats that the party needs to
keep, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is up 4 and in Georgia,
Purdue is up 6 on Michelle Nunn neither margin is particularly overwhelming in states
that are deep red in presidential elections.
There aren't a lot of results that look wacky. In four of the Senate races where the GOP
candidate leads, the margins are 2 percentage points or less Thom Tillis in North
Carolina, Joni Ernst in Iowa, Bill Cassidy in Louisiana, and Terri Lynn Land in Michigan.
Flip those, and Republicans only gain four seats, a sum most on the right would find
disappointing.
If there's a thumb on the scale, it's the wrong one. If you think of the New York Times
and CBS News as liberal news organizations, these results are an argument against
interest.
Now throw in this poll result:
Americans are so down on President Obama at the moment that, if they could do the
2012 election all over again, they'd overwhelmingly back the former Massachusetts
governor's bid. That's just one finding in a brutal CNN poll, released Sunday, which
shows Romney topping Obama in a re-election rematch by a whopping nine-point
margin, 53 percent to 44 percent. That's an even larger spread than CNN found in
November, when a survey had Romney winning a redo 49 percent to 45 percent.
Two years ago, Obama won re-election with about 51 percent of the vote.
An electorate that's disappointed and frustrated with Obama is not going to turn out to
vote for Democrats. They'll either vote for Republicans or stay home.
