We have agreed that the AMISOM political office will open here in
Kismayo as well. We also discussed the issue of the AMISOM police being
brought here in Kismayo and training the police of the Jubba Interim
Administration.

We came to Kismayo to meet the Jubba Interim Administration to
introduce ourselves but also to oversee the ongoing programs of AMISOM
and to support the Jubba Interim Administration in terms of projects but
also to support the cause of peace. We would like to congratulate the
Jubba Administration for the peaceful Ramadhan season because we
hardly had any incidents during the season. We would like to thank them
for maintaining peace and stability.

STORY

The acting Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union
Commission for Somalia has concluded a visit to Kismayo, during which she
interacted with AMISOM troops as well as officials from the Jubba Interim
Administration.

Hon. Lydia Wanyoto Mutende sought to discuss how AMISOM can further
support the Jubba Interim Administration to enhance the peace and security in
the region.

The Ag. SRCC also met with the AMISOM soldiers in Kismayo to understand their
challenges better and motivate them, as they continue to work towards ensuring
stability in the area.

The troops in Kismayo are drawn from Sierra Leone, Kenya and Burundi.

Speaking after the meeting, Abdulahi Shiekh Osman Faltak, the Deputy President
Jubba Interim Administration said the discussions were fruitful and the focus
was on how improve working relations between the two parties.

Hon Lydia Wanyoto Mutende applauded the JIA for their efforts at ensuring
peace in the region.
