HELP CHILDREN IN NEED Each August, Fr. Joe Mulcrone and the Deaf Community collect school supplies for children who have been abused or are very poor. Once again, There is a great need. the simplest way to do this is to get a back pack, then fill it with all sorts of schools supplies. (Flyers with the list of supplies are in the back of church or available from the SFB Office.) Then, drop off the back pack or any school supplies at Stokes Center, any Sunday in August.

Respect Life - From a former abortion worker "All [the clients] were told about the procedure itself was that they would experience slight cramping similar to menstrual cramps, and that was it. They were not told about the development of the baby. They were not told about the pain that the baby would be experiencing or the physical effects or the emotional effects that it would have on them. They had no idea who was going to be there to help them when they fell apart afterwards. They were taken into the room then, and, as I said, there was no counseling done. These women basically had no idea what they were getting themselves into." Religious Education The St. Francis Borgia Religious Education Progam is accepting registration for the 2014-2015 school year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the RE Office, Schoolroom 101, or by appointment. Classes meet weekly during the school year; Grades 1-5 meet on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:30 a.m. and Grades 6-8 on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The registration fee after August 1, 2014, will increase to $75 per child. Registration forms are available in the RE Office, Rectory and in the church. The registration form/payment may be mailed, brought to the Religious Education or Rectory Office, or put in the Sunday Mass collection. First day of class and Parents Open House for Grades 6-8 will be Tuesday, September 2, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and for Grades 1-5 on Saturday, September 6, from 9:00- 10:30 a.m. New registrants must provide a Baptismal certificate at the time of registration. For more information, please contact Ruthanne Swiatkowski, Director of Religious Education, at (773) 625-1705. From the Pastors Desk The miraculous multiplication of bread in the deserted place in todays Gospel, was an announcement of the establishment of the Eucharist. Christ, aware of the fragility of human life determined to give us His Body as nourishment for everlasting life. Pope John Paul II understood and loved the mystery of the Eucharist. When his earthly life was coming to an end and no earthly bread could prolong it, once again, he showed us the road to eternity by declaring the Year of the Eucharist. In this way, Pope John Paul II wanted to awaken and deepen in the hearts of the faithful the faith and love for Christ, who is present in the Blessed Sacrament. Thanks to him, the worship of the Blessed Sacrament revived and many places formed that have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We are blessed to have an Adoration Chapel that was just renovated and now we are working on the new pews that will be custom made for our chapel. We encourage and invite you to come and meet Jesus in our Adoration chapel that is open every day from 6:00am to 11:00pm. We thank the Adoration Chapel Committee for their hard work and commitment.

The nuns gathered around her bed trying to make her last journey comfortable. They tried giving her warm milk to drink but she refused it. One of the nuns took the glass back to the kitchen. Then, remembering a bottle of Irish Whiskey that had been received as a gift the previous Christmas, she opened it and poured a generous amount into the warm milk. Back at Mother Superior's bed, they held the glass to her lips. The frail nun drank a little, then a little more, and before they knew it, she had finished the whole glass down to the last drop. As her eyes brightened, the nuns thought it would be a good opportunity to have one last talk with their spiritual leader. "Mother," the nuns asked earnestly, "Please give us some of your wisdom before you leave us." She raised herself up in bed on one elbow, looked at them and said, "DON'T EVER SELL THAT COW!"
