The Strongest Girl I Ever Knew

By Ronnie Doe
She never got to dance,
Or go to her own Prom.
She never got the chance,
To forget where she came from.

She never got to kiss,
A man she idolized.
She never felt love's bliss,
'Cause she was paralyzed.

She never got to talk,
About love with a smile.
She never got to walk,
Down a Church's Aisle.

She never got to say,
Those precious words "I Do".
But she was far and away,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

She couldn't brush her hair,
Or put make up on her face.
She couldn't hold you dear,
Or give you a warm embrace.

She couldn't clasp her hands,
As if in the form of prayer.
She couldn't understand,
Why she was in a wheelchair.

She never showed her fears,
Or let you hear her cries.
She never showed the tears,
That fell down from her eyes.

She never looked for pity,
Or sympathy from you.
That's why she'll always be,
The strongest girl I ever knew.

Dear Addiction

Im writing this to you
Telling you we're through
I cant take you anymore
Dont know what I liked you for
All you did was wear me out
Now I know what you're all about

You came to me with promise and joy
Now look at all the things you destroy
Families, lives, bank accounts you see
You ruined it all with one little tease
Look at the way you make me feel
Then you take it all and want me to steal

Why cant you just go and hide
Somewhere far away where Ill never
find
Everyone at home doesnt understand
How you rip me apart, then lend me a
hand
I keep coming back thinking inside
Maybe this time Ill make you my bride

Then I sit and wonder why
Why do you really want me to die
Thousands and thousands come to you
Hoping and praying youll help them
through
Then they fall for your lending hand
Only to realize you're nothing but a
scam

You promised me heaven and sent me to
hell
You ruined my life and then wished me
well
Watch me now as I go on my way
Im washing myself of all of your pain
So you and your power can just leave me
be
Im taking my life and setting it free

While You Weren't Here
While you weren't here
I cried every night
A million tears fell
Still my heart wasn't right

While you weren't here
I did what I could
Hoping against hope
My decisions were good

While you weren't here
I gained some in age
Things just went on
And life turned a page

While you weren't here
I just tried to go on
Knowing what didn't kill me
Would only make me strong

While you weren't here
A whole lot got changed
My life became different
My world rearranged

While you weren't here
I had to learn to be alone
To stand on my two feet
To make my own home

So that's where I am now
At this stage of my life
Still scared and alone
Still coping with strife

And oh how I wish that
Things could be different
That I could go back
To a time in the past

To a time before
You weren't here

Faith and Courage is what will get
you through this life.
In Life

In life there are people that will hurt us
and cause us pain,
but we must learn to forgive and forget
and not hold grudges.

In life there are mistakes we will make,
but we must learn from our wrongs and
grow from them.

In life there are regrets we will have to
live with,
but we must learn to leave the past
behind and realize it is something we
can't change.

In life there are people we will loose
forever and can't have back,
but we must learn to let go & move on.

In life there are going to be obstacles
that will cause interference,
but we must learn to overcome these
challenges and grow stronger.

In life there are fears that will hold us
back from what we want,
but we must learn to fight them with the
courage from within.

God holds our lives in his hands. He
holds the key to our future.
Only he knows our fate.

He see's everything and knows
everything.
Everything in life really does happen for
a reason: "God's Reason".

Chasms And Bridges

Whether dancing the circle
or sitting in the pews,
the world is full of wonder
and knee-jerk news.

For those full of spite
and woeful complaining,
the world is full of darkness;
no hope remaining.

Diversity spawns
attacking spasms,
elevating hate
and deepening the chasms.

You are who you are,
smart as a fox;
why confine yourself
to a bleak little box?

For those full of love
and compassion caring,
the world is full of brightness
and warmth in sharing.

Diversity spawns
a chance to build bridges,
elevating love
and life privileges.

You are who you are,
smart as a fox;
expressing yourself,
you're out of that box!

We can make this world
a beautiful place
if we toss away frowns
and put smiles on our face.

Abolish that burden
of complaints you've been lugging;
begin building bridges
and get used to hugging!

Linggo ng Wika
By: Aaron Mendoza

National Language Week or Linggo
ng Wika is a very popular cultural event
which is celebrated every first week of
August. This event highlights the
significance of the Filipinos' national
language,Filipino. Each year,
educational institutions such as schools,
universities and government agencies
celebrate this event through various
activities such as essay writing contests,
exhibits, parades and other contest
showcasing the use of the Filipino
language. [WikiPilipinas]
History:
In March 26, 1946, President Sergio in
Osmea issued Proclamation No. 35
that designated the period from March
27 to April 2 "National Language Week,"
each year. Then, on September 23, 1955,
President Ramon Magsaysay issued
Proclamation No. 186 that declared
August 13-19 of every year as the
"National Language Week." President
Magsaysay changed the date of its
celebration in honor of known "Father of
our National Language,"
President Manuel Quezon's birth
anniversary. The change also made
possible for students and teachers to
celebrate the event in their respective
academic grounds.
After the remarkable EDSA Revolution,
first female president Corazon
Aquino issued Proclamation No. 19 on
August 12, 1988 to reiterate the
proclamation of the National Language
Week on August 13-19, every year.
To further strengthen previous
proclamations, President Fidel
Ramos issued Proclamation No. 1041 on
January 15, 1997, which declared the
whole month of August as the "National
Language Month."
Today, the National Language Week and
Month are still celebrated in
the Philippines. It is on the official
calendar list of cultural events in the
country. [WikiPilipinas]
And this year, President Benigno S.
Aquino III gave a message to start the
cultural event of our country.

Mensahe
ng
Kagalang-galang Benigno S.
Aquino III
Pangulo ng Pilipinas
Para sa Buwan ng Wika
[Ika-1 ng Agosto 2013]
Nagkakaisa ang sambayanang Pilipino
upang ipagdiwang ang Buwan ng
Wika sa Agosto, sa pangunguna
ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.
Nakapaloob ang pagkakakilanlan ng
isang lahi sa kanilang wika, at
nabubuhay at nagbabago ito ayon sa
pangangailangan ng panahong ating
ginagalawan. Sa pamamagitan ng tinig
na sumasalamin sa kolektibong
karanasan at kasaysayan ng ating bansa,
higit pa nating napalalalim ang
pagkakaisa at diwa ng bayanihan, sa
sarili man nating lupain, o saan man
makakatagpo ng kapwa nating Pilipino.
Naway maging lunsaran ang
pagdiriwang na ito ng malawakang
tagumpay ng ating lipunan, habang
sama-sama nating tinatalunton ang
tuwid na landas.
Nagsisimula nang mamunga ang ating
pagsisikap; nagsimula na ang pagbawi
ng ating pambansang dangal, tumitibay
nang muli ang ating mga institusyon, at
patuloy ang pag-arangkada ng ating
ekonomiya mula nang tayoy
nanumpang magsilbing mga huwaran
ng katarungan, katotohanan, at
katapatan. Sa patuloy nating pakikiisa sa
ilalim ng agenda ng pagbabago,
matitiyak natin na ang panahon ng
liwanag at kaunlarang tinatamasa natin
ngayon ay magpapatuloy, at siyang
mamanahin ng susunod na salinlahi ng
Pilipino.
(Sgd.) BENIGNO S. AQUINO III
