What is PROFIdrive:

PROFIdrive is a device profle developed by drive manufacturers to provide manufacturer-neutral standardization of the
PROFIBUS interface of drives and thus minimize interation and commissionin time and e!ort" #he F$% describes the
terminoloy of the common data ob&ects of cyclic communication bet'een controller and drive"
Cyclic data transmission messages
(yclic data transmission messaes have the follo'in basic structure"

#he core consists of user data *PPO+
Parameter process data object *PPO+
#he structure of the user data for the cyclic channel is defned in the PROFIdrive Profle version ,-". and desinated
as Parameter Process data Ob&ect *PPO+" Usin the PPO the master *controller+ accesses the slaves *drives+ cyclically"
#he PPO is divided into t'o areas/ PKW area and PZD area" #he dividin into the t'o areas achieves decouplin in
time" #he P01 area is usually processed slo'er than the P23 area"

FORUM SIEMENS
Dear Experts,
Can anyone elaborate the differences between PZD and PKW telegrams used in Drive Communication
With regards,
nand gate!
"ello,
in a view words
PZD is sending and reading the data continuos, needed for operation of a drive viea field bus communication! #his happens cyclic!
E!g!$ from P%C to drive power on & of, speed setpoint, or from drive to P%C actual speed, actual current statu sword!
PKW is used acyclic data communication 'lets say on demand(, for example reading the actual fault code or writing a parameter with an other
value!
#he following description is a little bit older, but it gives a good set up$
http$&&support!automation!siemens!com&WW&view&de&)*+,,)+*

3n PZD, data will be send and recieved between drive and P%C in word format, and you have to connect it to control word, setpoint etc
where as in PKW, direct value of parameter will be written by P%C

"ello,
5n addition to above, please find here an application example for control 6inamics 9:;* via Profibus DP!
