Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:47:47 PM): Todays topic was asked in MDI & IIFT....

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:48:00 PM): And Todays topic is "Modern cinema is a
boon to the Indian society."

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:49:46 PM): so the society and cinema reflects each
other

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:50:42 PM): @ Meghna... One point of thought is

whether cinema reflects the reality or whether it influences us...

vinodh.rajan (5/10/2008 9:52:03 PM): I would disagree with that fact that Cinema
reflect the real life . Cinema is an over exaggeration of real life. It doesn't
really reflect real life.

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 9:52:38 PM): Yeah to start with... Cinema is not that
popular in India.. b it modern or otherwise... First of all.. we need to create
more and more awareness regarding Cinema... then it can b boon... but looking at
the current situation... one can hardly say its a boon

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:52:50 PM): I beg to differ with vonodh...

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:53:01 PM): what has been shown in TZP is true
in a sense...

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:53:04 PM): so i think yes upto cerain moovies like
swades, border , tare jamin par has made lifetime impact on ones life

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 9:53:19 PM): i thnk modern cinema is really boon to
society. if we compre modern cinema wid wid preivous one it has gain lots of imp
not only at national level but also at intrnational level which is cretng it own
image of our country in the field of entertainment

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:53:27 PM): or what has been shown in U Me n

hum...

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:53:33 PM): it does happen in real life..

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:53:40 PM): so we can say that in this case cinema
is boon

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 9:54:00 PM): yea xctly

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:54:17 PM): Cinema like TZP Swades actually open
our eyes to the reality as to what happens in our society...

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 9:54:20 PM): and den der are movies like Krrish in which
stunts are der... they influence kids..

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:54:31 PM): today's cinema impacts lot on individual

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:54:54 PM): yes i agree in some cases it does...

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:54:54 PM): though it in a positive way or negative way
coz every coin has two sides

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 9:55:08 PM): TZP..... Its true.. b v rarely possible to b

practical.. but yes.. it has changed the mindset of many parents

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:55:29 PM): karan said it...tzp swades rdb made lot
impact on young guyz as wel las parents....

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:55:48 PM): when there was a shooting in a

university campus in usa it was later agreed upon that the killer who went on a
shooting spree was actually the same as in one of the movies...

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:56:04 PM): we must understand that cinema or any
media has its own power and any form of power can be used in both ways one may
use if for the benefit of society or for his own selfish aims
ishika sethi (5/10/2008 9:56:24 PM): cinema though is very popular in India.
modern cinema is quite a controversial topic over here. bt i feel yes, it is
definitely a boon to d society.

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:56:25 PM): its up to person

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:56:48 PM): through films, all d directors n producers
shud make films dat will give something valuable to d society n dat will generate
gud development of an indivdual

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:56:53 PM): It has its pros and cons

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:56:53 PM): We can never generralise it..

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 9:56:55 PM): agree ... but at times things which are been
shown in movies has -ve output ..

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:57:18 PM): negatives.... like mahesh bhatt n madhur
bhandarkar films

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:57:30 PM): Thats why i said it is a point of

contemplation as 2 whether cinema reflects the reality or whether it influences
us...

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 9:57:38 PM): yeah... we saw Page 3.... do u thnk that
will have a positive impact on da society?

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 9:57:44 PM): it is capable of creating various impacts on

the youth as well. examples are movies like swades -- which prevents BRAIN DRAIN
-- very important for d development of india. Rang de basanti - which goes in for
stopping corruption n so on

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:58:00 PM): they shows the real truth of d world but they
r nt for minors as they might include obscene or action scenes

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:58:17 PM): it might create negative mindset in an

individual

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:58:27 PM): Movies like Swades would not prevent
brain drain...

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 9:58:28 PM): its not all abt films but evn some of the
scenes lyk smoking ,drink's, influence of underworld people which encourage people
to imitate those things

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 9:58:37 PM): bt yes, as all of u r saying nothing is

perfect n so it does have some negative impacts also

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:58:39 PM): Cinema is a source of entertainment

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 9:58:41 PM): thats tru gdtakes but one thing i always
feel that due to the impact of cinema sometimes we are forgetting of reallife
people always prefers to be the part of imaginary world and that is why they love
watching moovie

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 9:59:07 PM): bt it depends on an individual hw he takes it

.
! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 9:59:26 PM): Cinema impacts so much so tht.... people
imitate them..... people jus replace themselves with the character...

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:59:36 PM): Most of the people forget the movie
after they walk out of the theatres...

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 9:59:40 PM): but d weakness is - films creates impact in
an individual in its personal life for a very short period of time....

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 9:59:47 PM): It is just a source of

entertainment...

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 9:59:51 PM): @ meghu -- d modern cinema v r talking rt nw

is d one which shows reality. doesn't matter hw harsh it is.

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:00:13 PM): the impact can go on for longer time....

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:00:41 PM): it is not d imaginery world any more. if u
have it in u , u can definitely change d whole world

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:00:42 PM): like wht rdb amde impact on us? young
bloods????

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:00:48 PM): Very few movies like TZP have an
impacxt on personal lives..

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 10:00:52 PM): agree...but people they do strt comparng wid
their persoanl lyf

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:01:12 PM): I dont think RDB made any impat on
the youth...

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:01:15 PM): it depends on individual , a movie can have
a longer impact.

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:01:18 PM): yeah. RDB is so old movie... but still it
has its impact.. so we can say.. impact can b much longer.. nd not only few time
after the movie

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:01:19 PM): see modern cinema not just mean harsh
reality here i want to say that nowadays we are becoming more addict of media and
thats the rerason we have more impact of cinema on our life

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:01:34 PM): v got d inspiration then to do somethiong

for the nation n sacrificing ourr life for it for the good of d society

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:01:54 PM): definitely rdb had a gr8 impact which still
goes on.

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:01:57 PM): If Mr. Ramadoss is trying to

influence the youth tht smoking is injurious to health by requseting superstars
not to smoke in public, it is a good ploy...

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:02:11 PM): i mean to say it is not depicting an

imaginery world anymore

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:02:12 PM): but as time goes, we forgot all values n
practices handled by directors in rdb
ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:02:20 PM): be it d movies like Page 3

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:02:34 PM): no ishika, its nt much nw

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:02:44 PM): @ GD, but would somebody want to

sacrifice for the sake of the nation. i think it is more of philosophical than
real...

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:02:59 PM): tell me will u sacrifice ur career n family
for some1 frnd or nation ???

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:03:05 PM): how abt comparision between classical

cinema and modern cinema??

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:03:07 PM): yes, bt still even a short term impact can
help do gud n gr8 things for d society.

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:03:24 PM): What was shown in Baghban has

happened umpteen times in families...

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:03:26 PM): It has had impacct...

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:03:32 PM): yeah...karan

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:03:40 PM): a lot of children have realised

their parents importance...

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:03:52 PM): i agree wid dat too

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:04:00 PM): I have become close to my family

becoz of tht...

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 10:04:08 PM): those 2 cinema are totally dffnt thing

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:04:10 PM): yes gdtaker youngsters like you and me
will do something and that is not exaggeration but fact beacause if you observe
even in history when tilak , gandhiji used to give lesture many youngsters used
to follow them since that was the most effective way of convincing in those
days but now cinema has taken its place

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:04:17 PM): before watching the movie i would

never think abt wht my parents have done for me....

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:04:18 PM): this is wht actually hpnd in many families
in india

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:04:48 PM): as children gets married, they forgets their
parents n wants to live in different walls apart frm them

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:05:05 PM): so i think youngsters can initiative

by watching moovies

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:05:10 PM): it is not abt d short term or long term
impact , bt it is abt getting influenced n like eye-opener stuffs , helping d
society to change 4 d better.

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:05:33 PM): so can we say... tht it can also depend
upon wot category of cinema a youth prefers.... tht will have much impact?

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:05:51 PM): see its up to you how u take the things if
you are good then you will observe good

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:05:57 PM): Take the example of Phir Milenge...

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:06:16 PM): Where Shilpa Shetty plays an hiv

positive woman

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:06:27 PM): yeah... so main thing is that Cinema doesnt
do any wrong? its individual hu has to see whats his preference?

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:06:28 PM): A lot of people like her in India

are looked down upon and neglected.....

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:06:57 PM): wht u will say abt lage raho munnabhai
impact? all d india was trying to do gandhigiri but unsuccessful.....its nt
working in today's world.... but as directors directed the film in a ssuch a
fantastic way got impact of it directly or indirectly

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:06:58 PM): But the movie makes us understand

tht they are also humans and need to be treated with a lot of empathy..

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:07:19 PM): it was a nice movie..

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 10:07:28 PM): agree..samething has been shown in munnbahi
mbbs 2 ...movie is all abt gandhigiri and people are so influence that they have
realy strtd prctsing gandhigiri. .. cinema should also have some responsiblity
2wrds scoiety which is helpful for well being

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:07:49 PM): But we are in the 21st century

where poeple have become very self centred...

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:07:59 PM): when you said after watching moovie
people will follow wrong attitude will leave their parents, or teenagers may jump
after watching krish but let me tell you how many youngsters watched moovies then
why only one-two jump

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 10:07:59 PM): of society

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:08:03 PM): gandhigiri at nay point of time in this
kalyug will nt be successful

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:08:18 PM): one will take undue adantage of others

nimesh shah (5/10/2008 10:08:30 PM): it is..

! KewlBuggy ! (5/10/2008 10:08:32 PM): yeah... so cinema should focus much on real
life... rather then unpractical thngs?

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:08:38 PM): Thts wht i said...

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:08:46 PM): but modern cinema impacts a lot in one's
personal life......

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:09:06 PM): depicting d real world will help people to
relate things wid their lives

society n remove d drawbacks of d society n tk d cinema to help in d betterment of
d society.

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:17:08 PM): i think in India where people are less
educated they try to copy the cinema and hence take wrong message of cinema

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:17:38 PM): ya good point ishika

ishika sethi (5/10/2008 10:17:57 PM): n even i agree wid d education part of it

society.

effect on society . since it is one of the best mode of convicingIn India we can

smart_attitude_4_life (5/10/2008 10:23:27 PM): I think cinema does have an impact

on the minds on people... Positive as well as Negative...

n v shud use it as v want to - for d gud of d society.

meghu kulkarni (5/10/2008 10:24:46 PM): and also i think that it is up to

everyone how he should take moovies as and what impact should he have on his own
life

vinodh.rajan (5/10/2008 10:25:48 PM): Based on the Discussion I think that the
Impact depends on the Understanding you have. If you can take the finer aspers of
it its Good, otherwise it depends on the viewers perception

Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:27:45 PM): Though every coin has two coins, I would
like to conclude by saying that indian modern cinema creates lot of impact on an
individual but one needs to take all the good points of particular cinema that
will give betterment in his own life as well as individual development. Indian
producers n directors also shud make films more on real-life base that will
generate awareness in every Indian thereby it will get more poularity as well as
prestige in indian society...thats it !!!
Mr. GD Taker (5/10/2008 10:31:54 PM): ok it was a nice gd
