Lonzest 143-S is a unique, single chemical emollient designed as a direct replacement for
cosmetic esters derived from naturally based raw materials. The chemical and physical
properties of Lonzest 143-S are tailored to meet the exacting specifications for emollients in the
cosmetic industry. Lonzest 143-S has been judged to be non-comedogenic, thus providing an
additional benefit.

The cost/supply picture on emollients derived from natural raw materials is in a constant state of
flux. This is, to a large part, due to the availability of the fatty acids from which these emollients
are derived. Lonzest 143-S removes the instability aspect of emollient supply and cost. Being
based on domestically produced, readily available, FDA approved raw materials, Lonzest 143-S
is offered in large, consistent volumes at a stable, moderate price.

SOLUBILITY

The solubility of Lonzest 143-S has been determined in a wide variety of solvents commonly
used in the cosmetic industry. As expected, Lonzest 143-S exhibits good solubility in the
following solvents (@ 25C):

Insolubility was exhibited in glycerol, propylene glycol and water.

APPLICATIONS

Lonzest 143-S is an exceptionally effective emollient that exhibits penetrating and spreading
properties. When properly compounded into finished cosmetic formulations, these properties of
Lonzest 143-S impart to the skin or hair a softened, pleasant feel.

Lonzest 143-S also exhibits excellent solvent properties. This makes Lonzest 143-S an
excellent choice as a perfume solvent in the formulation of bath oils, antiperspirants, spray
deodorants, pre-shave lotions, sunburn and tanning lotions and other liquids requiring high
levels of emollients.

In addition to perfumes, Lonzest 143-S will also function as a solvent/emollient in waterless
hand cleaners, makeup and lipstick removers and facial cleansers.

Plus (preservative) dye and fragrance.

Preparative Procedure Heat Parts A and B to 70C and combine with proper agitation to
achieve emulsion. Continue agitation while cooling to room temperature. Preservative, dye and
fragrance may be added at approximately 40C.

Preparative Procedure Heat Parts A and B to 75-80C and with agitation, add A to B. Begin
cooling. At 40C add the aluminum chlorohydrate and continue mixing while cooling to room
temperature.

Antiperspirant Pump Spray

Preparative Procedure While agitating, add the Lonzest 143-S and Pegosperse 400ML to the
Ethanol SDA-40. When a clear solution is obtained, add the aluminum chlorohydrate and
continue agitation for 10-15 minutes in order to insure uniformity.

Preparative Procedure Heat Parts A and B to approximately 70C. With continuous stirring,
add part A to B. Allow to stand until formulation has gelled.


TOXICOLOGY

The skin and eye irritation potential of Lonzest 143-S has been evaluated according to the
Draize Procedures. The result of these evaluations reveals that Lonzest 143-S is not a primary
irritant under the definitions of the Federal Hazardous Substance Act. The Oral LD
50
is in
excess of 39 grams/kilogram.

Lonzest 143-S was also evaluated for comedogenicity. A 20% solution tested on the skin of
rabbits revealed the Lonzest 143-S is not comedogenic.
