These are: DIAGREAD, TSTOOLS and Collect TRILOG Events. The first utility, DIAGREAD, is a DOS-based maintenance utility used to collect historical data saved in the Main Processors battery-backed RAM memory. This program can used with V5 to V9 TRICON systems. The historical data is compiled into specific file formats which DIAGREAD knows how to collect and save to the PCs hard disk in a ASCII-based file format by using the TRICON History/Statistics cable. The other utility, TSTOOLS, is a menu-driven program that collects diagnostic event information stored in Communication Modules such as EICM, NCM or ACM. This DOS- based program can be used with V7, V8 and V9 TRICON systems and saves the information in a chronological binary-format file. Version 9 TriStation 1131-based TRICON systems provides an embedded diagnostic utility called Collect TRILOG Events. This function is invoked under the TS1131 Diagnostics Panel collecting historical events from EICM, NCM or ACM Communication modules. This functionality is available for TriStation 1131 version 1.1 or later only. The historical events retrieved by Collect TRILOG Events are saved in the PCs hard disk in a sequential binary- based file. All these diagnostic utilities provide menu-driven and option-selection instructions that allow the user to perform data collection in a simplistic method. The execution of these diagnostic utilities can be done with the TRICON system on-line without affecting the controlled process. The diagnostic files collected by these various utilities present various snapshots of historical events, such as the following: One Main Processors view of system health with respect to the other two Main Processors views. Particular events which have occurred within the last 24-hour period. The latest occurrence of a certain type of event example, power loss; the removal of a module from the chassis; or the last state of the TRICON systems keyswitch. To ensure a complete analysis of a TRICON system, it is advisable that as a minimum DIAGREAD and a Collect Event utilities be performed. It is also recommended that diagnostic files should be obtained prior to removing the faulted module from the system and within 24 hours of the occurrence. Upon execution of DIAGREAD and any of the Collect Events utilities, fault historical event data will be cleared from the memory allowing new historical events be stored. Methods of Obtaining Diagnostic files: 1.1. DIAGREAD: To perform DIAGREAD, you will need the following: A Personal Computer with MS-DOS 6.2 (or higher) operating system installed. A TRICON History/Statistics Cable (Triconex part number 400066-015), which is to be connected between the PCs COM1 serial port and each Main Processor modules serial port. The DIAGREAD Utility program (Triconex part number: 6300006-001). A blank, formatted 3 floppy diskette in which the diagnostic file will be copied and sent to Triconex. Create the DIAGREAD subdirectory on your PCs hard disk and copy the DIAGREAD Utility files into the C:\DIAGREAD\ subdirectory. Take the following steps to perform a DIAGREAD: 1.1.1. Boot the Personal Computer you are using to the MS-DOS prompt and go to the C:\DIAGREAD\ subdirectory. 1.1.2. If you have executed DIAGREAD previously, delete the existing DIAG.OUT file; otherwise proceed to the next step. 1.1.3. Execute the DIAGREAD Utility by typing DIAGREAD and press the Enter key. The following menu will appear on the screen. Please connect cable to MP A and enter d MP is down r cable is connected to MP A and ready s skip MP A q quit 1.1.4. Connect the History/Statistics Cable to the leftmost Main Processor or MP A serial port. 1.1.5. Press the r key and press the Enter key. DIAGREAD will start down- loading the fault historical data from the Main Processors memory to the PCs hard disk. 1.1.6. When DIAGREAD has completed the download sequence for MP A, it is ready to perform the same sequence to the next Main Processor. Follow the instructions on the screen that tells you when to move the History/Statistics cable from one Main Processor to the next. A successful DIAGREAD execution must be performed to all three Main Processor modules. Failure to do so, diagnosis of the TRICON systems health will not be complete. After DIAGREAD is completed, a file named DIAG.OUT will be created and saved in the C:\DIAGREAD\ subdirectory. An Invensys Company 15345 Barranca Parkway Irvine, California. 92618. Take the following steps to perform TSTOOLS: 1.2.1 Boot the Personal Computer you are using to the MS-DOS prompt. Ensure the TRISTATION cable is connected from the PC to the TRICON Communication Module. 1.2.2 Go to the TRISTATION subdirectory and type TSTOOLS. Select the Collect Event Messages (A) option. 1.2.3 A prompt at the bottom of the screen will ask you to enter the network node number. Choose (0) if your PC is connected to the TRICON using an EICM module or choose the node number (1-10) of the TRICON you wish to connect if your PC is connected to the TRICON using an NCM or ACM module. 1.2.4 The following prompt Select the name of Event Log File will appear on the screen. Enter the name of the file you wish to save the events, then press the Enter key. You can see the number of events incrementing indicating TSTOOLS is collecting event messages. 1.2.5 When all events have been collected, the message Waiting for TRICON event messages will be displayed. Press the Esc key to end the collection and exit TSTOOLS. For more information regarding TSTOOLS Collect Events, please refer to the Appendix E of the TRISTATION MSW Users Manual. 1.3 Collect TRILOG Events: Collect TRILOG Events, is executed when using the Windows NT-based TriStation 1131 Developers Workbench software Version 1.1 or later. Take the following steps to perform a Collect TRILOG Events: 1.3.1 Start-up TriStation 1131 and connect to the TRICON System using the Diagnostic Panel. 1.3.2 When the connection has been established and the Diagnostic Panel is being updated with TRICON status data, select Collect TRI LOG Events function on the Commands drop-down menu. 1.3.3 Enter the name of the file you wish to save the event messages. 1.3.4 Enter your name, companys name, address and phone number so you can be contacted for the response regarding the events collected. 1.3.5 Collect TRILOG Events will start uploading all Chassis diagnostics, Firmware information and events. 1.3.6 When the number of events has stopped incrementing, all events have been collected.
