The project done by our group is aimed to provide exposure on the basic usage

of English Language among pupils. With the implementation of this project, it is

expected to offer new experiences and facilitate the pupils to use English in teaching
and learning sessions conducted with the teachers in the classroom. For information,
the project conducted by our group is a collaboration between English Panel of SK Dato
Kramat. Several activities were carried out with pupils from year 1 to year 6. Among the
activities carried out were as follows; Phonetics Game for Year 1, Word Maze for Year
2, Spelling Bee for Year 3, Grammar Game for Year 4, Information Transfer for Year 5
and Sentence Construction for Year 6.
All these activities were carried out in class because it can provide opportunities
for all pupils to engage in the activities held and do not distinguish the level
of the students' achievements. Pupils from each year also were given chances to make
performances such as choral speaking, group singing, actions song, storytelling
and public speaking during the closing ceremony of the English Language Week. As
information, at this moment, there is a group of pupils who are preparing themselves
for the zone level of English Language Carnivals competition.
This is the first English Language project developed by each member of this
group and it was a heavy task to be performed. Moreover, each of us is not majoring in
English Language subject. We just use our existing experiences during directly and
indirectly involvement of the English Week program conducted at our respective
schools. However, the support from the administration as well as from the English
teachers in this school had given us the strength to make these activities a success. At
the early stage of this project, we have gone through few meetings to discuss the
activities that could be done. During the meetings too, we had invited several English
Language teachers to give comments and opinions on the activities planned.
For information, this English Language program is not yet being conducted at the
school and still in the process of planning by the English Language Panel. Hence, the
panel would be glad if the activities can be conducted together with our team. After few
meetings being done, we had prepared the working paper so that this program will be
approved by the school administration. We feel very grateful because the school
administration had given the approval and we receive full support from the schools
English Language Panel.
All activities planned have been carried out well although there were some
problems occurred. One of it is about the Year 1 pupils readiness. This is due to their
first experience in completing activities that related to full usage of English Language.
This can be seen during the conduct of activity towards the moderate class pupils. They
were unable to understand the instructions given them. In order to solve this matter, we
need to use low and simpler language to make them understand and this really gives us
challenge in conducting activities with this kind of pupils. Other problems occurred was
about the time constraint for each activity to be completed. This is due to our other
commitment until the pupils need to complete the task given within a short period. In the
other hand, our group members also watched the videos of other school pupils
performances in order to get a real picture and exposure of the activities that we would
like to conduct.
Based on the project carried out, the cooperation and teamwork spirit could be
seen among the teachers and the school administration. Although we were of different
schools, it does not stop us in giving full cooperation and commitment in conducting this
project given. Alhamdullilah, each of us always keep in touch in effort of improvements
and enhancement of the activities planned until the program ended.
