Preliminary Information
To-do list
(prior to
commissioning)
Tasks to Do Details
Ensure that all on-site
works have been
carried out as instructed
in the installation
manuals.
See Reference
documents on page 3.
These works include:
Grounding of radios (ODUs).
Grounding of the indoor unit
(IDU).
Installation of the grounding
kits along the coaxial IF
cable(s).
Connection of the power
supply cables.
Ensure that the DC
power is as specified.
The input DC voltage (Vin) applied
to the OmniBAS-4W /-2W system
must be:
-60 V Vin -40 V
Prerequisites
For the commissioning of one OmniBAS link, two
commissioners are required (one per side).
For the provisioning of services, the planned network data
is required.
Every protected or unprotected OmniBAS link to be
commissioned should be equipped with same-type ODUs
(ODU-CHP or ODU-CF) at both sides.
NOTE
Using a mixed combination (ODU-CHP &
ODU-CF) in the same link is not recommended.
The ODU-CHP is not suitable for 256QAM / 56 MHz
configurations, but it supports 128QAM, 32QAM
and 16QAM fixed modulations at 28 MHz, 14 MHz
and 7 MHz channel sizes.

Updating the
ODUs
To update the ODUs of an OmniBAS node, proceed as follows:
Step Action
1 Select an ODU corresponding to the OmniBAS link.
Through the Inventory Info tab (see below), check the
two software versions that are shown at the bottom.

NOTE

ODU-CHP with software version 0155 is
incompatible.
In such cases, replace the ODU-CHP with
another one having a software version
newer than 0155.
2 If the displayed versions are:
Same select another ODU, associated with
the same link (if exists), and repeat step 1.
Different proceed to the next step.
3 Update the ODU.
For detailed instructions, refer to the OmniBAS Node

Precautions
CAUTION
WORKING ON THE BUILDINGS ROOF
During stormy weather, do not perform any
mechanical assembly or antenna beaming works
on the buildings roof.
The metal structure of towers/ masts is prone to
lightning.
Prerequisites
Prior to the alignment of the antennas:
Have the sites planned received (Rx) power values at
hand.
Ensure that the OmniBAS systems, at both sides of the
link, have been powered up.
Ensure the availability of voice communication (between
the two sites associated with the link to be established).

Confirming Link Establishment & Quality
Introduction
An OmniBAS link is established when the two systems at both
sides of the link are properly configured (as planned) and all
antennas are correctly aligned.
The following procedure is carried out to check the airlink
communication quality between the two sides of the link.
Prerequisites
The values of the airlink operating parameters are required, as
calculated by the radio network planning.
References
For detailed information on the monitoring of OmniBAS links, refer
to the OmniBAS Node Manager User Manual:

section Monitoring the Real-Time Modem
Performance.
Procedure
To confirm that the OmniBAS link has been established, proceed
as follows:
Step Action
