Course Synopsis
Collapsed dogs are a relatively common emergency
presentation in small animal practice and a
rational approach to these patients is essential to
guide management and maximise the chance of a

causes of collapse but not all are as serious as each
other! In this course we will review how to approach
the problem of collapse and discuss some of the
more common causes such as shock, dysrhythmias

Course Synopsis
Jaundice is a relatively common presenting sign that
is ofen dificult to navigate. This one-day course will
demonstrate how to diferentiate between the three
mechanisms that can result in jaundice- erythrocyte

Using case examples, we will discuss practical tips
for the distinction of the pathogeneses, diagnosis
and treatment of the underlying diseases.
Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA) is
one of the most common causes of jaundice in dogs
and ofen presents in an emergency situation- a
review of emergency stabilization of these patients,

An Update on Diabetes
Date: Wednesday 6th May 2015
Location: Kings College, Waterloo, London
Price: 295 +VAT
Lecturer: Grant Petrie MA VetMB, CertCARD CertSAM
Course Synopsis
Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disease
in small animal practice. The diagnosis is usually
straightforward but the management can be
demanding. We have all encountered those
nightmare cases, that are either impossible to
stabilise or seem to lose glycaemic control for no
obvious reason. Complications can arise from
unrecognised disease but also from incorrect
or inappropriate management. While insulin
therapy is the cornerstone of treatment, adjunctive
management, particularly diet and exercise, can be
pivotal to success.
This one-day course will focus on providing practical
advice to improve diabetic care from the day
delegates return to their Practices.

Course Synopsis
This interactive day course will demistify the
management of diabetes mellitus- a common
endocrine disease where the diagnosis is usually
fairly straight forward, but the management can
present a challenge for the whole practice team.
Furthermore, the complications that can arise from
incorrect or inappropriate management can be more
problematic than the disease itself. Using plenty
of clinical cases to support theory, there will be

the usual long traveling time, perfect!
Course Synopsis
Respiratory patients are a hugely variable population;
from the cyanotic, aged Labrador collapsed in the
waiting room, to the chronically snotty Persian who

aims of this one-day session include promoting
confidence when dealing with the dyspnoeic
patient, revising radiography and looking at the

Course Synopsis
Nurse clinics are a fantastic way of improving client
service, as well as being a proven way to generate
significant income when ran properly. Unfortunately
consult skills are generally overlooked during
training in the veterinary profession and we know
it may not always come easy. Weve developed a
practical day of training in the 7 key consult skills-
paying attention to these 7 key steps during a client
consultation is proven to improve both practice
eficiency and client satisfaction. Sounds simple,
doesnt it? And the theory certainly is. But delivering
these steps in a way that engages your client so that
theyll whole-heartedly recommend your practice to
friends and family is a real skill. One you can learn.
And we can show you how.

and the best approach to this will depend on the
underlying cause.
