Farmer to Farmer Program
Catholic Rural Life is collaborating with Catholic
Relief Service to implement the Farmer- to-Farmer
program. The program promotes sustainable eco-
nomic growth, food security and agricultural devel-
opment. They are looking for volunteer technical
assistance from US farmers, business people, uni-
versities, etc., to help develop productivity, to ac-
cess new markets and conserve environmental and
natural resources. Volunteers work with farmers,
producer groups, rural businesses and service pro-
viders. Volunteers are not paid, but all expenses are
covered by CRS, including pre-departure costs
(passport, visa, vaccinations), airfare, lodging,
meals and in-country transportation. Presently there
are around 500 projects in Ethiopia, Tanzania,
Uganda and Kenya. . Length of volunteer service
is generally for several weeks. For more infor-
mation contact Beth Hyer at: beth@ncrlc.com or

Redeemer in the Womb

Lord Jesus Christ, You took our human nature upon
Yourself. You shared our life and death, our child-
hood and adulthood.
You also shared our time in the womb. While still
God, while worshiped and adored by the angels,
while Almighty and filling every part of the universe,
You dwelt for nine months in the womb of Mary.
You were our Redeemer in the womb, our God who
was a preborn child.
Lord Jesus, we ask You to bless and protect the chil-
dren who today are in their mothers' womb. Save
them from the danger of abortion. Give their mothers
the grace to sacrifice themselves, in body and soul,
for their children. Help all people to recognize in the
preborn child a brother, a sister, saved by You, our
Redeemer in the womb.

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer.
The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention.
Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as
well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who
have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!
Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three divine Per-
son, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son be-
came man, died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living
and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catho-
lic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, who can neither
deceive nor be deceived.

Stewardship

August 31, 2014 - 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

"What profit would there be for one to gain the whole
world and forfeit his life?" - Matthew 16:26

St. Francis of Assisi once said, "Remember, you are
what you are in the eyes of God, and nothing else."
We often forget this stewardship wisdom when we
spend all of our time, talent and treasure to gain more
of the world's riches. We need to set our priorities
based on God's values and not the values of the mate-
rial world.

Prayer For US Elections

O God, we acknowledge You today as Lord,
Not only of individuals, but of nations and
governments.

We thank You for the privilege
Of being able to organize ourselves politically
And of knowing that political loyalty does not have
to mean disloyalty to You.

We thank You for Your law, which our Founding
Fathers acknowledged and recognized as higher than
any human law. We thank You for the opportunity
that this election year puts before us, To exercise
our solemn duty not only to vote, but to influence
countless others to vote, And to vote correctly.

Lord, we pray that Your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their
salvation, their response to You requires that
they be politically active.

Awaken Your people to know that they are not called
to be a sect fleeing the world But rather a
community of faith renewing the world.

Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to You in
prayer (http://www.catholic.org/prayers)are the
same hands that pull the lever in the voting booth;
that the same eyes that read Your Word , are the eyes
that read the names on the ballot, and that they do not
cease to be Christians when they enter the voting
booth.

Awaken Your people to a commitment to justice,
To the sanctity of marriage and the family,
To the dignity of each individual human life,
And to the truth that human rights begin when
Human Lives begin, And not one moment later.

Lord, we rejoice today That we are citizens of
Your kingdom. May that make us all the more
committed to being faithful citizens on earth.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.
