System Release Notice TimeAnalyzer 7x00 IEEE 1588 Measurement and Analysis System Introduction Symmetricom's TimeAnalyzer is an all-in-one test and measurement instrument for collecting and analyzing IEEE 1588 packet-timing data, as well as analyzing traditional synchronization signals. This powerful test tool can help you meet the PTP packet sync performance requirements in every stage of your project: engineering, network planning, packet-timing deployment and troubleshooting. With its easy-to-carry portable enclosure, TimeAnalyzer is designed for use in the field, as well as in the lab. This system release notice (SRN) describes the key features and known issues associated with the TimeAnalyzer 7x00. Notes TP5000 Probe Serial port settings are 57600 baud, 8N1, Flow Control None. After configuring IP and VLAN parameters, be sure to use the CLI command to restart the IP interface in order to apply the changes. It is recommended that the settings be verified with the show ip status command. The port redundancy mode for the IOC is disabled. IOC ports are independent, with Port 1 Enabled and Port 2 Disabled. The TP5000, by default, uses IP addresses 172.16.250.8 through 172.16.250.47 internally. These addresses should not be used for external devices attached to the unit. Parameter Default Value Administrator User Name: admin Password: symmadmin** IMC IP Address 192.168.1.12 IOC IP Addresses 192.168.1.11 192.168.2.11 Page 2 098-00209-000 Revision A1 February 2010 If using a gateway, then all IP interfaces and VLAN interface should be configured with the proper gateway IP address. If not using a gateway, then configure the gateway address to 0.0.0.0. During power-up and rebooting, messages will be displayed on the EIA-232 console port. The messages are normal and should be ignored. Only the A power module inputs should be connected to the power distribution panel. Upgrades use SCP for secure FTP transfer and therefore SSH firewall applies. Both SSH and SFTP firewalls need to be allowed for upgrades. TimeProvider 5000 IOC only supports full-duplex 100/1000 connections. Ethernet hubs are half-duplex and therefore not supported. Modules should not be removed and inserted more frequently than once every 2 hours. The TimeProvider 5000 only supports the active mode of FTP; it does not support the passive (PASV) mode. TP500 Translator Serial port settings are: 57600 baud, 8N1, Flow Control None. Default values are: admi n (user name), symmadmi n** (password), and 192. 168. 1. 9 (IP address). After configuring IP and VLAN parameters, it is recommended that the settings be verified with the show i nt er f ace conf i g CLI command. Changing PTP packet flow configurations will result in a brief flow alarm. There is some coupling for outputs. See the output connector section in the Overview chapter of the TimeProvider 500 2.0 User Guide for output coupling information. When changing the grandmaster attachment from one interface to another, disable PTP first (using the set pt p addr - mode di sabl e CLI command), change the attachment, and then enable PTP after the attachment change. If PTP is not disabled, communication may not be re-established between the grandmaster and the TimeProvider 500. To view the current product number, firmware version, and product serial number, use the show i nvent or y CLI command. For an optimum pulse shape, the pulse width should be set to 500 ns (default value) or less. Parameter Default Value Administrator User Name: admin Password: symmadmin** IP Address 192.168.1.9 098-00209-000 Revision A1 February 2010 Page 3 When switching from unicast to multicast and there is no multicast master, delay requests will continue to be sent to the unicast grandmaster until the unicast lease expires. When upgrading firmware, only lowercase file names are supported; including directory paths and usernames. Please consult the TimeProvider 500 2.0 User Guide (098-00172-000) for detailed descriptions of the features listed above.
