WELCOME

Congratulations to you on embarking upon your university preparatory studies, and we welcome
you to Sunway University College where you can pursue your pre-university studies all the way
through to undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.
Sunway University College has had more than 2 decades of experience in teaching and preparing
pre-university students for progression into various academic programmes at universities all over
the world. For this reason, our academics have put their expertise and experience together, to
incorporate key elements for students to develop intellectually, emotionally and socially, when we
developed our Sunway Foundation programme.
The Sunway Foundation in Arts is a pathway programme that effectively prepares students for
successful and smooth transition into undergraduate studies at Sunway University College, offered
in collaboration with Lancaster University, United Kingdom. Owing to the quality of its provision
and the scope of its curriculum, our Sunway Foundation in Arts qualification is also accepted by
certain local and foreign institutions.
Sunway University College is proud of its tradition of academic excellence and we offer a range
of undergraduate programmes which offers people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity
to continually learn and develop. The Sunway Foundation in Arts programme prepares students
to undertake many disciplines at tertiary level, from accounting, business, computer science and
hospitality management to art, design and performance.
Sunway University College is a rapidly growing institution; we are constantly upgrading and
improving our hardware, including buildings and facilities, and our software, comprising our
people, programmes and the services we offer. All these are done so that our students can obtain

FOUNDATION IN ARTS
The Sunway Foundation in Arts Programme charts a learning strategy to allow students to move into undergraduate courses
offered at Sunway University College conducted in collaboration with Lancaster University, United Kingdom. The Programme
provides an academic bridge for student’s effective transition into tertiary level education.

This Programme is designed to ensure that students are able to set personal achievement targets. They learn to be resourceful
and gain skills necessary to become global citizens. It also provides opportunities to identify student’s individual talent.
Through community involvement and participation in extracurricular activities students will learn social responsibility.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE
Development of numerical and communication skills is ensured through structured courses in Mathematics and English
language offered every semester. The choice of business electives ranging from Accounting, Economics, Computer Science
and introductory courses in Finance and Management and Psychology will help students to be prepared for the academic
rigour of undergraduate studies in Business and other disciplines. The enrichment electives like Culture and Ideas, Culture and
Performance and Critical Thinking Skills provide a holistic approach to learning. It will broaden student’s general knowledge,
develop their communication skills and reflect their understanding of individuals and groups. Awareness will be created for
better understanding of the world around them and events that change and influence the world. The subject contents are
current and reflect the rapidly changing society. Focus will also be on student’s ability to adapt to technology in learning.

The Programme is conducted over 3 semesters of 14-week duration.


Choice of Subjects
Students are required to undertake Mathematics and English as core subjects each
semester.

They are advised to take elective subjects and 1 or 2 enrichment elective subjects
each semester.

Structure of the Programme:


Students are advised to choose their subjects based on the field of study to be undertaken at university level.

Duration of Programme:
3 semesters
• Students must successfully complete a minimum 55 credits
• English and Mathematics every semester as core subjects
• Minimum of 3 subjects from Academic subjects, one in each semester
• 5 Enrichment subjects
• Malaysian students must take a unit each in Malaysian Studies and Moral Studies/Islamic Studies (for Muslim students).
Students without a credit in SPM Bahasa Malaysia must take a third unit of Bahasa Kebangsan.

completion certificate at the end of the academic year.
