HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana graciously presided over the Press Conference of
Thailand Equestrian Federation on 8 September 2014 at W Hotel Bangkok for the Official
Announcement of Thailand Equestrian Team for Incheon Asian Games 2014 which
includes 11 riders (riders profile attached) in 3 olympic disciplines including Dressage,
Eventing and Show Jumping. HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana also witnessed the
premiere of Spirit Incheon the short movie campaign by Thailand Equestrian Federation
to promote and increase public awareness of Equestrian sports in Thailand as well as the
Thailand Equestrian Team who will compete in Incheon. The short movie will be launched
from 9 September onwards in any Public Television, TrueVisions, Workpoint TV Digital,
Siam Sport TV as well as in SF cinemas nationwide. The movie soundtrack Jai Soo Fun
is specially written and composed by the well-known artist Big Ass under the supervision
of Mr. Vinij Lertratanachai, Thailand Chef dequipe and Marketing Vice President of
Thailand Equestrian Federation.

All three equestrian competitions (3 disciplines; 6 Winning Medals for Team and Individual)
will last for 10 days, starting from 20 to 30 September. Dressage competition will go first on
20 to 23 Sep. HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the captain of Thailand Equestrian
Team, will compete alongside with her team mates on the first day in Team Competition in
which the 30 best combinations will pass through the individual rounds. Eventing, the most
potential discipline for Thailand to quest for Gold, is the second competition as it sets to
begin on 24 Sep and end on 26 Sep. Show Jumping which Thailand sends 3 riders to
compete is the last to go on the schedule from 27 to 30 Sep.

Most of the nal combinations has been staying in Europe for the past six months i.e.
France and the Netherlands for intensive training with appointed coaches for Team
Thailand. The Dressage Coach of Thai Team is Mr. Alain Francios, the French Dressage
master who lives in Saumur, France. The Eventing coach, also Saumur-based, is Mr.
Maxime Livio, Top French rider who is 6th in the world eventing ranking. The Show
Jumping Coach is Mr. Michael Greeve who is based in Netherlands.
DRESSAGE
HRH PRINCESS SIRIVANNAVARI NARIRATANA
Horse: PRINCE CHARMING (Sire: Prince Thatch xx, Dam: Wonja by
World Cup I)
Major Achievements:
- Naypyidaw SEA Games 2013 (Borrowed Horse), Myanmar, Dressage
10th place Individual and 5th Place Team
Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand has
been riding since young age. Few years ago when she was studying and
working in Paris, the Princess went back to her admired equestrian sports
and practiced both dressage and show jumping seriously. She completed
her t rai ni ng at t he Ecol e Nat i onal e d' Equi t at i on as part of
the FIME (International training course for riding instructors) in July 2013
and went on to represent Thailand in Dressage at 2013 SEA Games in
Myanmar where she finished 10th individually and 5th place for Team. Her
mount PRINCE CHARMING, 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding, was
obtained in early 2014 from Germany. They have developed the
partnership together very quickly under the supervision of Alain Francois,
French Dressage master in Saumur.
CHALERMCHARN YOTVIRIYAPANIT

Chalermcharn or Tor, as called by nickname, was one of the top
dressage riders in Thailand. He made his debut in 1995 South East Asian
Games which he won Team Gold and was again won Team Bronze in
1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. He previously trained at BlueHors stable in
Denmark with Danish Top rider Lars Petersen and cultivated extensive
years of training with Swiss rider Hans Staub in Switzerland. Back home
he coaches many young riders up to the elite level and many of them
competed for Thailand in SEA Games and International competition
abroad. He also works as a FEI 2* Dressage Judge and FEI 2* Technical
Delegate in Eventing. His Asian Gamess ride CHANCE the 16-year old
Hanoverian stallion, which was the reserved horse for London 2012
Olympic of Estonian Rider Grete Barake, was sold to Thai business
woman Nelly Khov who has sponsored this horse for Tor in this Asian
Games. The combination trains in France with Alain Francois and
competes in several CDI events in 2014.
PAKINEE PANTAPA
Horse: TAYUTIN (Sire: n/a, Dam: n/a)
Major Achievements:
- Indonesia SEA Games 2011, Dressage Individual Bronze and Team
Silver
- Kuala Lampur SEA Games 2001, Dressage Team Silver
Pakinee is another top Dressage rider who represented the country in
many South East Asian Games. 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia was the
highlight of her career as she won the Individual Silver and Team Bronze
in dressage. Her ride this Asian Games the 14-year-old KWPN Gray
gelding called TAYUTIN is with the same partner as last SEA Games.
Pakinee is back and forth in Holland training with Frenk Jester at
Dressuurstal Jespers for years. She competes regularly in Holland at Prix
St George and Intermediate 1 level and has already obtained another
Dressage horse for higher-level competition.
RAVISARA WACHAKORN
Horse: SIR CARLOS (Sire: Welthit II, Dam: n/a)

Team Gold
Ravisara is part of the young riders in Thailand Team this Asian Games
2014. Only 17 years of age, she has started competing the Prix St
George level in late 2013 with her horse SIR CARLOS and continuously
compete in National levels in Thailand. Sir Carlos, the 15-year-old KWPN
gelding, was the former ride of Finnish young rider Emmi Autio where she
competed with the horse in several Junior Championships in Finland. The
horse was brought back to Holland early in 2014 for training and then was
moved to France for intensive training with Alain Francois. After practicing
in several CDI events in France, this Asian Games will be the first major
games for Ravisara.

COL. FUANGVICH ANIRUTHDEVA

Col. Fuangvich, as known as Col. Sam who currently is a Secretary
General of Thailand Equestrian Federation has been competing for
Thailand since the very early stage of Equestrian development in Asia.
From 1990 onwards, he has been representing Thailand in both Asian
Games and South East Asian Games in all disciplines (Show Jumping,
Eventing, Dressage) while working for Thailand Equestrian Federation in
developing the Equestrian sports in Thailand up to international level. Col.
Sam is a keen rider and when he bought his new eventer, the 9-year-old
Selle Francias, RIDANO ELMY from top French rider Nicolas Touzant, he
has already planned ahead for the upcoming Asian Games. Col. Sam and
his horse were training with Maxime Livio, Top French rider, in Saumur
since 2013. Apart from riding, Col. Sam is the FEI 3* Dressage, Eventing
and Endurance Judges.
SubLT. SUPAP KHAW-NGAM
Horse: ARDBOHILL LAD (Sire: Farney Clover, Dam: Pride of Finnoe)

SubLT. Supap and his 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse ARDBOHILL LAD
were a great combination as they both developed partnership throughout
the years. Supap was part of the Thailand Eventing Team in Asian Games
2002 and finish 15th individually. Since then he has been representing
Thailand in various South East Asian Games where he won Team Gold
and Individual Silver in 2011. He was also part of the Team Gold for the
first Asian Eventing Championships 2013 CIC*-CH in Pattaya, Thailand.
He previously trained with Olympic rider Andrew Hoy in UK for few years
and has just moved to France for Asian Games Eventing camp with
Maxime Livio.
PROMTON KINGWAN
Horse: KAISERSTERN 3 (Sire: Kaiserjaeger xx, Dam: Karin D by
Kolibri)

- Indonesia SEA Games 2011, Eventing Individual Gold
- Guangzhou Asian Games 2010, China, Eventing Team Silver and 13th
place Individual
- Doha Asian Games 2006, Qatar, Eventing 13th place Individual
Promton or Ice is one of the top Thai eventing riders who represent the
country for many games including the Doha Asian Games in 2006 and
Guangzhou Asian Games 2010. He was part of the Team Silver in
Guangzhou and finished 13th individually. He also won Individual Gold in
the 2011 South East Asian Games in Indonesia. Ice previously obtained
the 13-year-old Saxony-Anhaltiner Grey gelding KAISERSTERN 3 from
Germany and rode to qualify the MERs in July before getting selected for
the Asian Games 2014.
SUPANUT WANNAKOOL
Horse: Tzar of Her Dreams (Sire: Volchebnik, Dam: Hezabel of
Charmeux by Ultra Rouhet)
Major Achievements:
- CIC 1*-CH Asian Eventing Championship, July 2013, Eventing 5th
place
Jumping Team Bronze
Supanut is a one of the young riders in Asian Games 2014 team. He
practices Eventing and Show Jumping regularly and at age less than 20,
he has already competed for Thailand Internationally. In 2013, he nished
5th individually in the Asian Eventing Championship in Pattaya and also
represent Thailand as part of the Show Jumping team for South East
Asian Games in Myanmar. The horse he is riding now was a young horse
7-year-old Selle Francias produced by another top French rider Rudolph
Scherer and is owned by Thailand Equestrian Federation.
SHOW JUMPING
SAILUB LERTRATANACHAI
Horse: VRAUKE W (Sire: Corland, Dam: Renville)
Major Achievements:

Sailub is an older sister of one of the member of Thailand Show
Jumping Team, Siengsaw Lertratanachai. At age 21, she has intensive
training with her coach Michael Greeve since 2013 and competes
regularly in Holland with her two horses which includes her Asian
Games mount, VRAUKE W, a 12-year-old KWPN mare.
ALEXANDER DAVIS
Horse: VOLOMA (Sire: Hors La Loi II, Dam: Lucky Boy)

Alex is a Thai-Australian nationality. The 2014 Asian Games will be the
first time for him to represent Thailand and this is also the first ever major
games for him. Alex was selected in the qualified event in Holland with
horse VOLOMA, the 12-year-old KWPN mare owned by Swedish rider
Nicolina Savback. He is now living in Belgium, working in horse trade
business.
SIENGSAW LERTRATANACHAI
Horse: DAKOTA (Sire: Darco, Dam: Trouble Maker xx)

Siengsaw is the one of the three young riders for Asian Games 2014
Team. She made her debut in 2013 when she represented the country in
FEI World Jumping Challenge Final in Caracas, Venezuela, where she
won Individual Silver from the event. Siengsaw also represented the
country in Show Jumping at the latest South East Asian Games 2013 in
Myanmar. Her horse a 12-year-old Westphalian mare DAKOTA was
bought early 2014 as part of her goal to qualify for the Asian Games. The
combination also trains with Michael Greeve where her sister is.

- In 2014 Asian Games, Thailand sends the team of 11 riders (4 in dressage, 4 in eventing
and 3 in show jumping) which includes HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana who is the
Thai Team captain and will take part in Dressage competition which will be held from 20
September onwards.
- Within 11 riders, 7 are the new generation riders (which 3 of them participated in SEA
Games Myanmar : HRH Sisirvannavari Nariatana in Dressage, Siengsaw and Supanut in
Show Jumping) while 4 other riders are the former members of Thai National Team who
used to compete in previous Asian Games.

- There are 3 riders in Thailand Equestrian Team for Incheon Asian Games that are young
riders (age less than 21): Supanut age 19, Siengsaw age 18 and Ravisara age 17.
- 3 brand new riders who participate in international games for the very first time are
Ravisara, Sailub and Alexander.
- Korea reigns in the Dressage discipline as they always win Gold medals in both Team
and Individual. Japan, China and Malaysia are the three major countries who share the
podium in Dressage. In order to potentially reach the individual rounds and win any
medals, Thailand needs at least the average score of 65% of all team members.
- Eventing is the only discipline that Thailand can quest for Gold. In the previous Asian
Games (2010), Thai team led by Olympic rider Nina Ligon almost defeat Japanese Team
for Gold medal but our best results on the final day were only Team Silver and 4th
Individually. In 2014 Asian Games, the competition will reach the maximum as the strong
countries are all well-prepared and most of them are training with top coaches in Europe,
i.e. Korea, Japan in Germany; Qatar, India and Hong Kong in UK, while in China, there
are over 30 active eventing riders competing in national league.
- In Show Jumping, Thailand send a team of three riders which are mostly the new comers
in International level. The strongest countries in Show Jumping are partly from the middle
east i.e. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and some are from the Asia Pacific side i.e. Japan,
Korea, Taiwan. Most of the riders have already gone global and ride in several World cup
leagues.
What is Equestrian sports? (via FEI.org)
Dressage
Dressage, the highest expression of horse training, is considered the most artistic of the
equestrian sports and can be traced as far back as ancient Greece. The horse has to
perform at a walk, trot and canter, and all tests are ridden from memory and follow a
prescribed pattern of movements. The only exception is the Freestyle which is specially
choreographed for each horse and is performed to music.
Eventing
Eventing is a three-phase equestrian competition a horse triathlon. Among all equestrian
sports, Eventing is an extreme sports requiring ultimate trust and partnership between
horse and rider. It has its roots as a comprehensive cavalry test requiring mastery of 3
disciplines of riding. The competitor rides the same horse in all 3 disciplines at a
competition.
1st Phase : Dressage is a test of harmony and obedience, ballet on horseback.
2nd Phase : Cross country tests endurance and courage as horse and rider negotiate a
3-5 kilometers course of 30-40 big, solid fences at great speed.
3rd/Final Phase : Show Jumping, riding a one plus minute course of jumps in a ring, is a
test of finesse and technical jumping skills.
The winning individual is the competitor with the lowest total of penalty points. The winning
team is the one with the lowest total of penalty points, after adding together the final
scores of the three highest placed competitors in the team.
Show Jumping
Jumping is a spectacular mix of courage, control and technical ability that takes horse and
rider over 10 to 13 knockable obstacles, some of which may be double or treble
combinations, with penalties incurred for each obstacle knocked down or refused. Jumping
has also produced some of equestrian sports most memorable Olympic moments.
