Authentic Instruments
Elektrik Piano 1.5 comes with 16 new instrument presets
(four for each piano), labelled Authentic Instruments.
The new instruments can be accessed via the File Menu:
All instruments have been carefully redesigned and retuned
across the entire keyboard, reproducing the original feel of
the keyboards to the fullest extent. The instrument presets
come with a high-quality room- and cabinet simulation (in the
presets marked Amp or Lead). Tremolo Effect (A200, MK1
and MK2 only)
Tremolo Effect (A200, MK1 and MK2 only)
The frst knob Vibrato controls the Tremolo Amount for
the A200, MK1 and MK2 instruments. It can be controlled
with MIDI CC 20 or the mod wheel. Although previous ver-
sions of Elektrik Piano also included modwheel tremolo
amount routing, this separate knob is helpful since with Elek-
trik Piano 1.5 you can automate knob movements in your host
sequencer. Also, you can combine instrument presets with
different tremolo amount settings in a single performance.
Speed controls the tremolos rate. Please note that a stereo
tremolo is used for the MK1 and MK2.
Room Simulation
All instruments feature a new room simulation effect. This
effect consumes more CPU than a normal reverb, but it is
bypassed when set to zero, thus will saving CPU usage.
Cabinet Simulation
All instruments labelled Amp, Lead (with the E7) or
Suitcase (with the MK1 and MK2) make use of a high qual-
ity cabinet simulation effect. This effect utilizes additional
CPU, so if you dont need the effect, you can switch to the
instruments labelled Pure.
Wah-Wah, Sound Control and Damping (E7 only)
All four E7 instruments have slightly different controls than
the other pianos:
The frst knob (also controllable with the Modwheel) activates
a Wah-Wah effect, i.e. when the knob is set to 0%, the effect
is bypassed. When activated, the knob controls a virtual Wah-
Wah pedal. Please note that there will be a slight click when
enabling the effect while holding notes.
The knob labelled Sound will switch through 10 different
sound settings, similar to switching pickups on a real E7.
And last but not least, press the sustain pedal! A real E7
does not have a sustain pedal, but it does have a damper
mechanism, similar to a buff stop found on a harpsichord. The
sustain pedal will imitate this behaviour in all E7 presets.
Voice Allocation
Elektrik Piano 1.5 features a completely redesigned voice al-
location algorithm. Instead of counting sampler voices, the
algorithm counts played keys on the keyboard, hence the label
Keys in the GUI:
This is useful since one played note consists of more than
one internal sampling voices, like release noises. Also, hold-
ing down the sustain pedal and playing repeated notes will not
increase the overall voice count. Since none of the included
pianos have more than 73 keys, this is the maximum number
of keys you can set in Elektrik Piano 1.5.
