About Open-AudIT
Open-AudIT is a network auditing application. It is based on the scripting languages of PHP, Bash and
VBcript. It can tell !ou what is on !our network, how it is configured and when it changes.
"ata is retrie#ed with Bash and$or VBcript, stored in a database and #iewed through a web interface.
The ser#er onl! needs a web ser#er %Apache and II ha#e both been tested& and a '!() install. Both
of these applications are free to use.
*our network de#ices can be +ueried and audited. ,esults are stored in a database for
#iewing, reporting and change auditing. All interaction is #ia standards co-pliant web
pages.
To setup Open-AudIT !ou will need the following - a webser#er %II or Apache will do&,
PHP installed on the webser#er, a '!() database %usuall! residing on the webser#er&, the gd and
i-agick e.tensions for PHP. Once these are installed and working, si-pl! download the application
%download the V/ Trunk for the latest #ersion&. 0.tract the files into a director! on !our webser#er
that is #isible to the clients. 1all the page setup.php in a web browser. 2ollow the pro-pts. It reall!

To audit Windows systems, !ou will need to run the 3firewall4enable.#bs3 script locally on each s!ste-
!ou wish to audit re-otel!. In a do-ain en#iron-ent, !ou will need Ad-inistrati#e per-issions to
audit re-ote s!ste-s. 0.a-ine audit.config %in the scripts director!& and configure to !our
needs. Auditing !our entire do-ain can be acco-plished b! a single co--and - or !ou could -ake a
3scheduled task3 to audit the do-ain at a set ti-e. *ou could also co-bine the audit script with !our
do-ain logon script, so that e#er! ti-e a s!ste- is logged on, it is also audited.
To audit Linux workstations, run the script audit4linu..sh %in the scripts director!& on each s!ste-.
To scan your network, use n-ap.#bs %also in the scripts director!&. /ow, e#er!thing on !ou
network will be #isible to !ou and !ou will know if it changes.
