Initial Clinical Experience (ICE) in pediatric dentistry
Students must wear scrubs, closed toe shoes, bring safety glasses, and have their NYU ID before
arriving for attendance. Students failing to meet these requirements are subject to dismissal and
make-up rotations.
Meet in the Dental School lobby (Septodont Lecture Hall) at 8:15 a.m. to take attendance. From there
students will be assigned to either an off-site location or the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic on 9W.
Transportation will be provided to and from off-site locations.
Friday November 7th currently has no classes scheduled because Septodont is in use all day.
NOTE: Dr. Spielman's office has confirmed that we do not have classes scheduled that day HOWEVER
technically school is in session so a "seminar" can be suddenly scheduled on this day.

B Bee update patient charts to reflect this restorative treatment plan:
Patient is put in High caries risk category, and counseled and advised of High caries risk re-evaluation
protocols, and home care protocol as per CRA chart.
Patient is more particularly counseled on every day diet.
Patient is advised that as diet and oral hygiene improves, so will bad breath problem.
This last available visit: # 29 DO slot prep composite, # 30 DO slot prep composite, #31 MO
composite, with RMGI liner. # 28 distil has not reached the DEJ and should not be treated surgically.
At next re-call visit sealants will be applied to all posterior occlusal surfaces.
Disease Indicators: cavitated smooth surface carious lesions, interprox. demineralizations, new
restorations within year.
Risk Factors: heavy plaque, frequent beverages and snacks, poor hygiene
Lab - September 15, 2014 F Bee
Bring/To do for lab:
F Bee Daily Care Form (2 copies - 1 for personal records)
F Bee completed completed patient chart
Chart to include: at least forms 1A, 1C, 2A, 3A, 4A, Progress Notes
Do all necessary surgical procedures for #19 and #2 (chart and daily care plan should address
teeth #2, #4, and #19)
Students working in teams of 2 will alternate positions of treating dentist/ dental assistant
when completing required restorations
Reminder:
In general clinic sessions implement clinical assistant skills, during an operative dentistry
procedure working along with a D3 or D4 student
If you encounter any problems - email Dr. Glotzer
There is a D2 Clinic Evaluation form on the Resources section of Classes, that should be completed,
and will also serve as a checklist of important items to consider.
** By now you should have 5 patient charts completed.

Results of the first 2 quizzes are now available on NYU Classes.
The points are the same for both: 5 = passing. If you failed the first quiz, your grade is a 0.
Dr. D placed an issue of the CDC's MMWR (Mortality and Morbidity Weekly Report) under the Resources tab.
Go to page 54 and read about the US national preventive dental services related data.
This is a useful reference to have.
