Cork Chamber launched its Pre Budget Submission 2015.
The document covers a number of areas with a primary focus
on innovative solutions which the Chamber believes will aid
continued economic growth and job creation whilst fostering
a positive environment for start-up enterprises and increasing
consumer confdence.
Cork Chamber has called in this submission for initiatives that
we feel will not only make it easier for those in business today to
continue and grow but will also facilitate entrepreneurs to enter
the market. Dealing specifcally with issues like access to credit,
our call for regulated peer to peer lending and prompt payment
policies for SMEs will ofer a vital lifeline to small and medium
businesses that rely on cash fow to continue.
From a Cork and wider regional perspective we have also
identifed a number of key infrastructural projects such as the
upgrade of the N28 to Ringaskiddy, which we have shown
through our recent Indecon Economic Assessment has potential
to deliver over 5,000 jobs by 2033. We also feel that the
development and support of the Cork Science and Innovation
Park will help the region to grow the knowledge economy that
has the potential to deliver over 1,000 jobs and add upwards of
35million to the economy.

Why target India for opportunities in the energy and
cleantech sectors?
India is a land of opportunities for European clean technology
businesses and researchers. The second biggest country, the
largest democracy in the world, and with a growing young
working population, India is a large and diverse market with
many opportunities to be reaped. The country has consistently
grown and ofers a vast scope for the expansion of European
technologies into new markets.
How can the Enterprise Europe Network help?
One of the key roles of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is to
assist local businesses to identify opportunities in new markets.
The EENs main partner organisation in India is the European
Business and Technology Centre (EBTC), whose mission is to
assist the business, science and research communities - in Europe
and India - to work together towards generating new business
opportunities in clean technology transfer, and establishing
business relevant cooperation in the feld of research, science and
technology.
In India, services are available for European businesses,
researchers, clusters, and policy makers. EBTCs toolbox of
modular and customisable services supports EU-India cross-
border collaboration and technology transfer. From helping
you to understand the Indian market, fnding projects and
partners, establishing your organisation in India, localising your
technology, making pilots happen, and more every service
takes European organisations a step further to enter and ensure
sustainability in the vast Indian market.
Discover Energy & Cleantech Business Opportunities in
India
On Monday 13
th
October, EBTCs Energy sector specialist Mr. Vittal
Kumar Dhage will address Cork companies at an information
seminar about business opportunities in India in sectors such as
biotechnology, energy, environment and transport, which ofer
huge scope for synergy and collaboration. Vittal will also talk
about market demand, opportunities and potential partnerships
for Irish SMEs interested in these sectors in India.
For companies looking to make real contacts on the ground,
the seminar will provide some background to the 2nd Global
Innovation & Technology Alliance Platform at KNOWLEDGEXPO
2014 which is taking place in Delhi in November and is organised
by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This event provides
an excellent platform to meet potential business partners and
showcase Irish technologies in multiple sectors (e.g. energy,
environment, transport, and much more).
Attendees will also have the opportunity for one-on-one
meetings with the EBTC Energy sector specialist after the seminar,
to ask any specifc questions they might have about their own
interests in the Indian market.
Speaker Profle
Mr. Vittal Kumar Dhage is the resident
Energy Sector Specialist at EBTC. He has
over 15 years of diversifed programme,
consulting and technical experience in the
energy and environment sectors including
hands on intelligent and smarter solutions
for green growth. Vittal has interdisciplinary
policy and technical knowledge in energy
efciency, cleantech and renewables, as
well as comprehensive clean technology
transfer and market entry strategy
formulation specialisation.
