fee for faculty members. The registration fee

About the A.V. Charity
The Anbanathapuram Vahaira Charities
established in 1806 by the five philanthropic
families of Anbanathapuram, Enathimangalam,
Pallavarayanpet, Karugudi and
Kanganamputhur.
A.V. Charities had been serving the cause
of religion and philanthropy for about 200 years
and also as beacon light in the field of education
to the innumerable youth, with rural background.
A.V. Charities began its educational services by
starting the A.V.C. College (Autonomous) in
1955, extended their horizon to A.V.C.
Polytechnic in 1983 and by opening the A.V.C.
College of Engineering in 1996.
About the Institution
A.V.C College of Engineering established
in the year 1996, situated on the main highway
of Mayiladuthurai to Thirukkadaiyur of
Nagapattinam District, Tamilnadu in an
evergreen scenic landscape of 30.09 acres. The
Institute offers seven under graduate
programmes and five post graduate programmes
in Engineering, Technology, Management and
Science disciplines. Three programmes have
been accredited by National Board of
Accreditation (NBA-AICTE) for the period of
three years. The Institution has been accredited
by National Assessment and Accreditation
Council (NAAC) for the period of five years
under grade 'B' with a CGPA of 2.73/4.00.
About the Organizer
Department of Computer Applications is a
P.G & Research Department under Anna
University affiliation.
It offers a P.G programme - MCA and two
research programmes namely M.S(Research)
and Ph.D in the discipline of Computer Science.
The MCA programme has been accredited by
National Board of Accreditation (NBA-AICTE)
for the period of three years. The department
is also an recognized research Centre of Anna
University, Chennai for guiding and pursuing
Ph.D & M.S (Research) programmes in the
discipline of Computer Applications, Computer
Science & Engineering.
About the Workshop
Data Mining an interdisciplinary field
involving Databases, Statistics, Machine
Learning, high-performance computing,
Visualization and Mathematics. The task of data
mining are very diverse and distinct because
there are many patterns in the large databases.
Weka (Waikato Environment for
Knowledge Analysis) is a popular suite of
machine learning software written in Java,
developed at the University of Waikato, New
Zealand. Weka is free software available under
the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Weka is a landmark system in the history
of the data mining and machine learning
research communities, because it is the only
toolkit that has gained such widespread adoption
and survived for an extended period of time.
This open source software is being currently
downloaded, at a rate of 10,000/month.
Since Weka is freely available for download
and offers many powerful features (sometimes
not found in commercial data mining software),
it has become one of the most widely used data
mining systems. It also one of the favorite
vehicles for data mining research and helped to
advance it by making many powerful features
available to all.
In sum, the Weka team has made an
outstanding contribution to the field of Data
Mining. The key features responsible for
Weka's success are:

data mining and machine learning.
It is an open source and freely available
and having platform independence

algorithms being added as they appear
in the research literature
