Job Description:
Position Summary:
This position may provide GIS support to staff across all PEER offices. The positions primary home
is the Architect and Engineer Support Service discipline and the North East Region Operations office
in Burlington, MA. As directed by the Sr. GIS Analyst, Principal Duties & Responsibilities include:
Good understanding of geospatial concepts and GIS software
Ability to apply GIS technology to engineering and environmental applications
Ability to collect, create, and edit data from engineering drawings and tabular data, and transfer
those data to GIS data sets.
Works independently with minimal guidance, and also as part of a team
Ability to work with a high attention to detail and to perform individual quality control
Monitors and controls costs within own work
Other duties as assigned by the Sr. GIS Analyst or the Discipline Director.

Knowledge, Education & Experience: (Minimum education, experience, technical and
communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)
Bachelors Degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field required
1 3 years of experience required
Working knowledge of ESRI GIS applications required
Working knowledge of AutoCAD applications desired
Good general computer skills (Microsoft office, etc.) required
Good organizational skills required
Good interpersonal skills required
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with engineering or technical documents desired

Understanding of coordinate transformations and georeferencing useful, but not essential

Working Conditions: (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental
hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)

Internal: Work is normally performed in a climate controlled office environment, where
exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes, and gases is very
limited and the noise level is moderate and includes sounds and normal office equipment
(computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal
performance of internal job duties.
External: Minimal travel is required. Travel typically consists of travel to client offices.
Non-local travel is typically less than a week in duration.

Physical Demands: (The physical effort generally associated with this position.)
Internal: There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials on computer
screen and wrist strain from keyboard work. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and
changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Office work generally involves
standing and walking for brief periods but most office duties may be performed from a
seated position. Work may involve lifting and carrying over short distances paper and
supplies weighing less than 50 pounds.
External: Work may involve lifting and carrying over short distances packages, documents,
laptop computers, etc. weighing less than 50 pounds.
