Why women are better drivers than men

According to a judgment from the Advertising Standards Authority, women are better drivers
than men. According to men, most road accidents are caused by women. What they fail to add
is that this has little to do with poor driving skills. It is mostly attributed to the fact that men take
their eyes off the road each time they pass a female rating above two on an attractiveness
scale of one to ten. So, yes, women do cause some accidents - indirectly. When asked by his
insurance company to explain what had happened just before he crashed, one man
responded: "I had one eye on a parked car, another on approaching lorries, and another on the
woman behind".
Men are statistically more likely to take risks, and far more likely to suffer from road rage,
clouding their ability to drive safely and responsibly. Women are also more likely to abide by
traffic rules and avoid hazardous stunts. Clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Dr Narendra
Kinger says: "Road rage and drunken driving are manifestations of risk-taking. Men are more
likely to slip up here, as they are programmed to be more indifferent to the risk factor than
women."
Last year, 93 per cent of convicted drink-drivers were men.
Statistics show that one in three young men have serious accidents during their first year of
driving, leading to far higher premiums, according to Emma Hollier of Direct Line Insurance,
although future EU equality legislation could outlaw making any differential based on sex.
According to research conducted by the Halifaxs insurance arm, personal injury claims filed by
male drivers are 550 higher than those made by women. Female drivers have fewer
accidents, while those they do have are significantly less severe.
Women are better drivers at night, due to better vision in low light levels, according to research
by husband and wife team Allan and Barbara Pease, authors of the best-selling Why Men
Dont Listen and Women Cant Read Maps.
