ABSTRACT
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching progrmme on selected
minor ailments and their home remedies among mothers of under five year children in
selected rural area at district Yamunanagar (Haryana).

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY:
1.To assess the existing knowledge regarding selected Minor ailments and their remedies
among mothers of under five children in selected rural area at district Yamunanagar.
2.To compare the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on selected minor ailments
and their remedies among mothers of under five year children in selected rural area at district
Yamunanagar.
3. To find association between post test level of knowledge with their selected demographic
variables in mothers of under five year children in selected rural area at district Yamunanagar.
METHODOLOGY:
The methodology of research study is defined as the way the pertinent information is gathered in
order to answer the research question (or) analyse the research problem . It enables the researcher
to project of blue print of the research under taken. Research methodology involves a
systematic procedure by which the research starts from the initial identification of the problem to
its final conclusion.
A research overall plan for obtaining answers to the research question or for testing the research
hypothesis is referred to as the research design. The research design spells out the basic strategies
that researcher adopts to develop evidence that is accurate and interpretable.

The research study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programe on
selected minor ailments and their home remedies among the mothers of under five children at
selected rural area.

RESULTS:
Overall assessment of the pretest knowledge of mothers regarding minor ailments and
their home remidies reveals that percentage (30%) of mothers were Inadequate regarding minor
ailments and home remidies ,(70%) of them were moderate regarding minor ailments and their
home remidies .
Overall assessment of the post test knowledge of mothers of under five year children
regarding minor ailments and their home remedies reveals that percentage (0%) of mothers were
Inadequate minor ailments and their home remedies ,(10%) of them were moderate regarding
minor ailments and their home remedies,( 90%) were adequate.
INTERPRETATION AND CONCLUSION:
The study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme
of selected minor ailments and their home remedies among the mothers of under five year
children in selected rural area at district Yamunanagar.
The conclusion drawn on the basis of the finding of the study includes :
In the pre- test majority of mothers 30 % had inadequate
knowledge and 70% had moderately adequate knowledge.
None of the respondaents possessed adequate knowledge.
In the post test majority of mothers 90% were found with moderately adequate
knowledge,10% with adequate knowledge.
