introduction

Hi, and welcome to AH Racing the home of Alex Hutchinson


and his motorcycle road racing team.

From this presentation I hope to provide you with an


understanding of how successful a partnership could be and
the benefits offered from association. Alex left school and
started as an apprentice at BAE SYSTEMS Brough some
nineteeen years ago commuting on a 50cc motorbike. At
nineteen years of age he decided it would be a good idea to
start racing motorbikes!

Now a New Business Integrator and 35 years of age, he is still


racing at Britain’s and Europe’s leading circuits and winning
races. Alex first competed in the Superteen series, which was
held at the British Superbike meetings. This series has a wide
fan base, therefore spectators were plentiful and you become
a familiar face around the paddock. Following a time in
Supersport 600, he spent eight years competing in the British
250cc Championship with some very good results. He attributes
his engineering training at BAE Brough as a format for his
understanding of the intricacies of setting up a motorcycle as
each circuit requires different sprockets, suspension etc.

For 2009 Alex was due to ride the Tigcraft KTM Supermono again in the For 2010 Alex has once again been asked to ride the newly built

Scarborough on a Honda RS250, qualifying on the front row and finishing
5th in both races, he also managed another podium on the ZXR.

Somehow Alex also manages to find the time to instruct at the Ron Haslam
Race School at Donington Park and also has his Motorcycle Instructors
Certificate from the Auto Cycle Union.
Series information

We are currently looking at competing in the British Supermono


Championship aboard a Simoto Honda 450 supplied by Mick and Gary
Smith. Supermono racing is a interesting and unique class of motorcycle
road racing. It is one of the purest forms of racing and the simplest rules.
The essence of the rules are that the bike should be powered by a single
cylinder 4-stroke engine and that the bike should weigh more than 95kg.
That’s it! This allows an enormous amount of scope and flexibility with
regard to bike design. It is therefore the perfect class for someone with
engineering tendencies, or those keen to try new and innovative

In addition to the Supermono class we will also be competing in the GP2


class aboard a Kawasaki ZXR440 supplied by John Bird of MotoSP. This
class is essentially for machines of up to 450cc (4 cylinder), 550cc
(3 cylinder), 650cc (2 cyclinder) and 800c (2 cylinder air-cooled) and
therefore creates a wide and varied class.

Both of these series will be run by ThundersportGB


(www.thundersportGB.com) in 2010 and will take place at circuits all over
the UK.

Televised Events - these series are to be televised on MotorsTV on a 2


hour programme a fortnight after each meeting.

As well the GP2 and Supermono Series we will also be competing at the
International North West 200 (www.northwest200.org) shown on the BBC,
the Scarborough, Olivers Mount Gold Cup and Cock o' North meetings
and the Aberdare Park Road Races (www.aberdare-park-road-races.co.uk)
aboard a Honda RS250 and a Kawasaki ER6. These in themselves are
very big meetings with the North West 200 and Gold Cup attracting
125,000 and 52,000 spectators respectively.
