RULES AND MECHANICS IN PHOTO CONTEST

1. The contest is open to:
a. All secondary schools in the Municipality of Leon provided there is only one participant per
school.
b. All photography enthusiasts in Leon.

2. The contest will be in two categories: Category A (High School Level), Category B (Open).
3. Photo subjects should be historical sites, tourist destinations or should depict the culture of Leon.
4. Each participant is entitled to submit four (4) entries in different angles with one subject, it should be
colored with labels about the picture but only one shall be chosen as their official entry.
5. Entries shall be submitted on or before August 29, 2014 in DIGITAL COPY (jpeg format only). All photos
should be taken within 1 week before the contest. The camera resolution should be at least 8 mega
pixels. Entries will be saved in CD and submitted at SB Session Hall thru SB Sepida or SB Cabana.
6. Concept should be original, entertaining and wholesome, depicting the photo contest theme. Foul
language and violent actions are grounds for immediate disqualifications.
7. Entries must be colored and should depict the original state of the scenario captured.
8. The use of mediums (cameras) built in programs/software or special effects is not allowed.
9. No name or any mark identifying the photographer shall be included in the photo itself. Upon
submission, all entries shall bear only the Photo Entry Number. Names of photographers shall be
revealed only after the judging and during the slide show presentation.
10. The exhibit will be at the Tourism Building for judging and public viewing.
11. The photo contest will be judged according to the following criteria.

TECHNICAL EXELLENCE (Focus, Sharpness, Details, Depth of Field, Color [whiteness, contrast,
saturation], Usage of Light) 40%
CREATIVITY/ORIGINALITY (Subject Matter, Content) 30%
THEMATIC RELEVANCE (Composition, Relevance to the Theme) 20%
OVER-ALL IMPACT 10%

TOTAL 100%

12. All official entries (best shots) should be certified original by their respective school heads to assure
reliability that the contestants were the ones who had taken the picture.
13. LGU reserves the right to use or reproduce submitted entries for publication or other purpose
beneficial to the Local Government Unit without financial obligation to the owner, however, copyright
and photo credits will be accorded.
14. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
