Takes place at a high school acting as a limbo for those who have died, where students learn to
give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before passing on. Those in the
afterlife school can still feel pain as they did when they were alive, as well as dying again, only
to awaken later with no injuries.

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
A group of six childhood friends drift apart after one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma, dies in
an accident. Ten years after the incident, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has withdrawn
from society and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older looking Menma
appears before him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the
afterlife until it is fulfilled.

Waiting in the Summer
When a group of friends decide to make a movie over a long summer holiday, they end up
learning a little about filmmaking and a lot more about each other and themselves. What

the young cast take on new, and sometimes much unexpected, turns.

The story revolves around Rin Okumura, a teenager possessing abnormal strength and
endurance who, along with his twin brother Yukio, was raised by Father Shiro Fujimoto, an
Exorcist. One day, Rin learns that he is the son of Satan, the strongest of all demons. Witnessing
Shiro dying to protect him, Rin ends up doing what his guardian asked him never to do: draw
the demon-slaying blade Kurikara, which restrains his demonic powers, from its scabbard.
From that moment on, Rin not only gains permanent demonic features like fangs, pointed ears,
fiery "horns" and a tail, but also the power to ignite himself into blue flames that can destroy
almost anything they touch.

There is an organization called the Arcana Famiglia, which protects the island of Regalo (Italian
for "present"). The Famiglia is made up of people who have made contracts with Arcana cards,
and have received special abilities due to this. On his birthday celebration, Mondo has decided
it is time for him to retire and give up his title to a new boss who has control over an Arcana.
To decide who in the "family" gets this title, he calls for a tournament, called the Arcana Duello,
between Arcana users. To the winner, he promises the title of "Papa", a wish of the winner's
choice and his daughter's hand in marriage. Refusing to accept this, Felicit decides to fight to
choose her own path, with Libert and Nova fighting for her freedom by her side.

Bakemonogatari Series
The Monogatari series revolves around Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student,
who's almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate of his, the
reclusive Hitagi Senjgahara, falls down the stairs into Koyomi's arms. He discovers that Hitagi
weighs nothing, in defiance of physics. Despite being threatened by her to keep away, Koyomi
offers his help and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a strange middle-aged man living in an
abandoned building, who cured him of being a vampire. Once Koyomi helps solve Hitagi's
problem, she agrees to become his friend.

The story follows Tatsumi Oga, a first year student at a school for juvenile delinquents called
Ishiyama High. The story starts with Oga telling his best friend, Takayuki Furuichi, the strange
story of how he found a baby. One day while doing 'laundry' by the river, Oga saw a man
floating downstream. Oga pulled him to shore but the man split in half, revealing a baby boy
inside. This baby turned out to be the son of the great demon king, and Oga has been chosen as
the one to raise him, along with the baby's maid, Hilda. The manga follows Oga's life as he tries
to raise the child while enrolled at Ishiyama High.

Akame ga Kill
Tatsumi is a fighter who, accompanied by his two childhood friends, sets off to the Capital in
search of a way to make money to assist his poverty-stricken village. After being separated
from his friends, Tatsumi not only fails to enlist in the army, but is swindled of all his money.
He is then taken in by a noble family who offers him help, but intends to torture and kill him,
just like they did with his friends and dozens of other people. Tatsumi is rescued by a group of
assassins known as Night Raid and is invited to join their ranks and assist with their mission to
overthrow Prime Minister Honest, who manipulates the infant emperor for his and his men's
personal gain, leading the rest of the nation to poverty and strife.

Black Bullet
In the year 2021, mankind is decimated by the epidemic of Gastrea, a parasitic virus, and is
forced to live within the Monolith walls, which are created from Varanium: a metal that is able
to subdue Gastrea. Soon, children who were born with the Gastrea virus and obtained
superhuman abilities as a result, are discovered and dubbed "Cursed Children". Due to the
Gastrea virus' intervention, the Cursed Children could only be female. Civil Securities are
formed to specialize fighting against Gastrea, operating with the pair of an Initiator, who are
cursed children, and a Promoter, serving to lead the cursed children. Ten years after the
epidemic, Rentar Satomi, a high school student who is also a Promoter in Tend Civil Security
Agency owned by his childhood friend Kisara Tend, along with his Initiator, Enju Aihara,
conducts missions to prevent the destruction of the Tokyo Area and the world.

Black Butler
In Victorian-era London lives the young earl, Ciel Phantomhive. On the night of his tenth
birthday, a fire engulfed his manor house, his parents were murdered, and he was captured by
a mysterious organization. After a month of enduring excruciating and humiliating torture, Ciel
returns to the Phantomhive household with an enigmatic black-clad butler, Sebastian
Michaelis. To others, it seems that the butler is simply the best at his craft, from anticipating his
young master's needs to carrying them out to the best of his inexplicable abilities. Little do
they know, Sebastian is actually a demon that has entered into a contract with Ciel, promising
to help the boy achieve revenge on those who have wronged him in exchange for his soul. As
the Queen's Watchdog and standing at the top of the British underworld, Ciel solves the crimes
plaguing London while waiting for the day he will exact his revenge.

Blood Lad
Blood Lad follows Staz Charlie Blood, a vampire from the surreal "Demon World" who avoids
attacking him humans unlike his ancestors. One day, he becomes excited when Fuyumi Yanagi,
an ordinary girl accidentally wanders into the Demon World through a portal. The two's first
meeting is cut short by the attack of a demon. Staz goes to stop the enemy and save his allies.
However, Fuyumi is killed by a carnivorous plant and turned into a ghost, causing Staz to take
responsibility and pledge to help bring her back to life.

Kodaka Hasegawa, a transfer student to St. Chronica's Academy, has found it difficult to make
friends because of his mix of brown-blond hair (inherited from his deceased English mother)
and fierce-looking eyes that make him look like a delinquent. One day, he accidentally comes
across the equally solitary and very abrasive Yozora Mikazuki as she converses with "Tomo",
her imaginary friend. Realizing that they lack social lives and skills, they decide that the best
way to improve their situation is to form the Neighbors Club ( Rinjin-bu?), "an after-
school club for people with no friends like themselves.

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou
Thanks to his parents' job transfer, high school freshman Kazunari Usa finally gets to enjoy
living on his own in the Kawai Complex, a boarding house that provides meals for its residents.
Ritsu, the senpai he admires, also lives in Kawai Complex, as do a few other "unique"
individuals: his masochistic roommate Shirosaki; beautiful, big-breasted Mayumi who has no
luck in finding men; and sly, predatory college woman Sayaka. Surrounded by these people,
Usa never finds his daily life boring.

Ema Hinata (later Ema Asahina) is the daughter of the famous adventurer, Rintaro Hinata. One
day, Ema finds out that her dad is going to remarry a successful apparel maker named Miwa
Asahina. Rather than bothering them, she decides to move in to the Sunrise Residence complex
that is owned by Miwa. From there, she discovers that she has 13 stepbrothers.

Ryta Sakamoto is an unemployed 22-year-old young man who lives with his mother Yukie. He
is one of the world's top players of the combat video game called Btooom!. One day, he awakes
in what appears to be a tropical island, though he does not remember how or why he has been
transported there. While wandering around, Ryta sees someone and calls out for help. The
stranger responds by throwing a bomb at him. Ryta soon realizes that his life is in danger and
that he has somehow been trapped in a real-life version of his favorite game. In the game Ryota
meets Himiko, who is another Btooom! player and Ryota's in-game wife.

Cardcaptor Sakura
Cardcaptor Sakura takes place in the fictional city of Tomoeda. Ten-year-old Sakura Kinomoto
accidentally releases a set of magical cards known as Clow Cards from a book created and
named after the sorcerer Clow Reed. Each card has its own unique ability and can assume an
alternate form when activated. The guardian of the cards, Cerberus, emerges from the book
and chooses Sakura to retrieve the missing cards. As she finds each card, she battles its magical
personification and defeats it by sealing it away. Cerberus acts as her guide, while her best
friend and second cousin, Tomoyo Daidouji films her exploits and provides her with battle
costumes. Sakura's older brother Toya Kinomoto watches over her, while pretending that he is
unaware of what is going on.

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!
Yta Togashi is a boy who, during junior high school, suffered from "chniby" (?, lit.
"second year middle schooler syndrome", or "delusions of grandeur"), believing that he
possesses supernatural powers and dubbing himself the "Dark Flame Master", therefore
alienating himself from his classmates. Finding his past embarrassing, Yta attempts to start
off high school where he does not know anyone, free from his old delusions. This proves to be
difficult, however, as a delusional girl in his class, Rikka Takanashi, learns of Yta's past and
becomes interested in him.

In 2016, a catastrophe occurs after a nuclear meltdown from the nearby Odaiba nuclear power
plant contaminates Tokyo, forcing the government to order its citizens to evacuate. 20 years
later, Tokyo has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation which the government
has banned entry for anyone. When a distress signal is received from Tokyo, the Japan Ground
Self-Defense Force dispatches 3 teenage girls from the Dispatch 3rd Special Force Coppelion,
who comprise the "Healthcare Team". Due to genetic engineering, the Coppelions are immune
to radiation while also possessing special skills. Thus the Coppelions journey to the ruined
capital to find survivors.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls
Corpse Party is set in Heavenly Host Elementary School ( Tenjin Shgakk?), an
elementary school that was torn down following the murders and disappearances of several of
its staff and students. In modern day, a high school called Kisaragi Academy ( Kisaragi
Gakuen?) has been built over the elementary school site. One rainy night, after celebrating
their school's culture festival, a group of students, are telling ghost stories when their class
representative decides to perform a charm called "Sachiko Ever After", which would allow
them to remain friends for eternity. A sudden earthquake transports them to an alternate
dimension where Heavenly Host still exists and is haunted by the ghosts of the school's
murdered children. The students try to figure out the truth and mystery of the cursed school,
in order to find their way home and survive the other shadowy forces that haunt the school.

D.Gray Man
D.Gray-man follows the adventures of 15-year-old Allen Walker, whose left arm can transform
into a monstrous claw and destroy Akuma (Japanese for 'demon'), evolving machines created
by the Millennium Earl to help him destroy humanity. As ordered by his master General Cross
Marian, Allen becomes an Exorcist, people who can destroy Akuma for the Black Order, an
organization attempting to stop the Earl.

Daily Lives of High School Boys
The story revolves around the daily lives of Tadakuni, Hidenori Tabata and Yoshitake Tanaka
of Sanada North Boys High school and their various interactions with other students of and
around their school and their coming of age endeavors.

Danganronpa The Animation (TV)
Being just a normal student without a special talent, Makoto Naegi wins a lottery to attend the
prestigious Hope's Peak Academy where only the top prodigies attend. However, instead of
this being the beginning of a wonderful high school life, it's a ticket to despair, because the only
way to graduate from Hope's Peak Academy is to kill one of your fellow students or be one of
their victims.

Death Note
Light Yagami is a bored young genius who resents all things evil. His life undergoes a drastic
change when he discovers the "Death Note", a notebook that kills anyone whose name is
written in it. After experimenting with the notebook, Light confirms its authenticity and is
joined by an unexpected house guest - the notebook's previous owner, a shinigami called Ryuk.
Light tells Ryuk of his plan to exterminate all the criminals in the world, until only people
whom he has judged to be honest and kind remain. Once he finishes creating this utopia, he
means to rule over it as what he calls "the god of the new world".

Detective Conan
The story follows the adventures of Shinichi Kudo (also known as Jimmy Kudo in Case Closed),
a young detective prodigy who was inadvertently shrunk into a child's body due to a poison he
was force-fed by members of a criminal syndicate. Neighbor and family friend Professor Agasa
strongly suggested Shinichi hide his identity to prevent them from killing him and the people
he cares about, so Shinichi takes the name Conan Edogawa. He goes to live with his childhood
friend Ran Mouri and her father, Kogoro, and tries to use Kogoro's detective agency as a way to
find the people who shrank him without letting Ran figure out who he really is.

Mikado Rygamine, a young boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city moves to
Ikebukuro to attend Raira Academy with his childhood friend Masaomi Kida, who he has not
seen since he was young. After the two meet at the train station, they set out at night to the
streets of Ikebukuro. Masaomi warns Mikado about people he doesn't want to cross in the city,
such as the violent and superhumanly strong man Shizuo Heiwajima, the information broker
Izaya Orihara, and the mysterious gang known as "The Dollars."

Earl and Fairy
The story, set in Victorian Britain, follows the adventures of 17-year old Lydia Carlton,
nicknamed the "Fairy Doctor" due to her interest and understanding of fairies. Her life takes a
180-degree turn when she meets Edgar J.C Ashenbert, the "Legendary Blue Knight Earl" and
his crew on a sea voyage to London. Edgar hires her as an advisor during his quest to obtain a
treasured sword that was supposed to be handed down to him by his family.

The Familiar of Zero
Louise is a noble girl who is terrible at magic, as her attempts usually result in an explosion.
She is nicknamed "Zero Louise" by her classmates, due to the inability to use any of the four
magic elements. Early in the school year at the Tristain Academy of Magic, the second year
students perform a special ritual where they summon their familiar, which serves as their
eternal protector and partner, and is usually some sort of magical creature. But Louise
summons Saito Hiraga, an ordinary teenage boy from Japan, leaving her totally humiliated.

Shinomiya Kyya is forced to become a new member of the GJ-bu (lit. GJ Club), an unidentified
club that dwells in a room of the former building of a certain school. There he meets four girls:

the everyday, though unusual, antics of this band of friends.

Banri Tada is a newly admitted male student at a private law school in Tokyo. Due to the after-
effects of a fall from a bridge shortly after his high school graduation, he has lost all of his
memories prior to the accident (retrograde amnesia).

Guilty Crown
The story begins when high school student Shu Ouma encounters a wounded girl named Inori
Yuzuriha, the vocalist of a popular internet group Egoist, taking refuge at his film club's
workshop. The GHQ Anti Bodies storm the workshop and arrest her for involvement with the
terrorist group Funeral Parlor. Shu follows the coordinates of Inori's robot to a drop zone
where he meets Gai Tsutsugami, leader of Funeral Parlor, who asks him to safeguard a vial. As
GHQ begins attacking the Ruppongi area looking for the vial, it shatters as Shu goes to rescue
Inori when she becomes threatened by GHQ Endlave mechs. The vial contains the Void
Genome; a powerful genetic weapon derived from the Apocalypse Virus that grants Shu the
"Power of the Kings", an ability that allows his right hand to extract Voids, weapons of people's
psyche given physical form.

Hamatora: The Animation
The story of Hamatora revolves around a 17-year-old teenager called 'Nice', who runs a private
investigation agency called 'Hamatora' in Yokohama, Japan with his partners Hajime and later,
Murasaki. In the world there is the existence of Select humans called Minimum Holders
( Minimamu Horud?) have been discovered to possess supernatural
abilities known as 'Minor Miracles' or 'The Minimum'.

Hayate no Gotoku
Hayate Ayasaki is an unlucky teenager who has worked since childhood to make ends meet
due to his parents' irresponsible behavior. One day on Christmas Eve, he finds out that his
parents shoulder him with a massive 156,804,000 gambling debt, the Yakuza (who the
money was borrowed from in the first place) plan to settle that debt by selling his organs on
the black market. While running away from the debt collectors he ends up meeting Nagi
Sanzenin, a young girl who is the sole heir of the wealthy Sanzenin estate, and due to a
misunderstanding, Nagi ends up falling in love with Hayate. After he rescues Nagi from some
kidnappers, she hires Hayate as her new butler.

Kaze no Stigma
Kazuma Kannagi is the eldest son of the Kannagi family and presumed heir. He was considered
useless within his family because he could not use "Enjutsu" (?, Blaze Technique), the
power to control flames. When he was defeated by Ayano Kannagi, one of his very distant
relatives, in a bout to decide who would wield "Enraiha" (?, Blaze Lightning
Supremacy), a sword that was wielded by the family heir, he was banished from the family.
Four years later, he returns as a master of "Fjutsu" (?, Wind Technique), the power to
control wind, and with a new name: Kazuma Yagami.

Kore wa Zombie desu ka?
Ayumu Aikawa is a zombie resurrected by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe after
being killed by a serial killer. As he tries to make the best of his undead life, he encounters a
Mas-Shjo (?, lit. Magical Garment Girl, a pun on "mah shjo", meaning magical girl)
named Haruna and inadvertently takes her magic powers, being forced to become a Mas-
Shjo (and thereby crossdress) in the process. With Eucliwood, Haruna, and a vampire ninja
named Seraphim living with him, Ayumu helps battle demons known as Megalos while trying
to figure out the mystery behind his own death.

Log Horizon
By its eleventh expansion pack, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG)
Elder Tale ( Erud Teiru?) has become a global success, with a user base of
millions of players. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere
Pioneers ( Nasufia no Kaikon?, alt. Homesteading the
Noosphere[3][4]), thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are logged on at the time of the
update suddenly find themselves transported into the virtual game world and donning their in-
game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer named Shiroe, along with his
friends, Naotsugu and Akatsuki, decide to team up so that they may face this world, which
unfortunately has now become their reality, along with the challenges and obstacles ahead of

Mahou Sensou
In this modern magic action story, Takeshi Nanase is an ordinary high school boy who has a
somewhat dark past. Due to certain circumstances, he formed a "fake" couple with his
childhood friend Kurumi Isoshima, but otherwise, he lives a normal life. However, one day, he
comes across a girl named Mui Aiba, in a uniform he has never seen before, collapsed on the
school campus. This encounters changes Takeshi's destiny completely. Mui tells Takeshi that
she is a magician, and she apologizes, for she turned Takeshi into a magician, too. What Takeshi
once knew as one world is actually twothe world where magicians live and the world where
humans live.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha
The story is set in a world embroiled by war between Humans and Demons. The Humans'
greatest warrior known as the Hero invades the castle of the Demon King ( Ma?), leader
of the Demons who is actually a Queen, as he is determined to vanquish her. However, instead
of fighting back, the Demon Queen proposes an alliance with the Hero. She explains how a
sudden end to the war can bring further chaos to the world as the Humans, once united to
stand against their common enemies, would eventually begin fighting among themselves, with
similar issues already occurring in the Demon Realm. Convinced by her words, the Hero joins
forces with the Queen and together they execute a plan to bring prosperity and a lasting peace
to both Humans and Demons alike.

Natsume's Book of Friends
For as long as he can remember, Takashi Natsume has had the ability to see spirits, inheriting
the power from his grandmother Reiko. Upon her death, Reiko bequeaths to her grandson her
Book of Friends, a book containing the names of spirits Reiko had bullied into servitude. The
Book of Friends is a highly prized item in the spirit world, and spirits haunt Takashi constantly.
Whereas Reiko formed the contracts, however, Takashi spends his time dissolving the
contracts and releasing the various spirits that come to him for help. But that doesn't mean
there aren't malicious spirits trying to kill him. Which is where Madara (called Nyanko-sensei
by Natsume) comes in; Madara serves as Natsume's bodyguard and spiritual advisor of sorts,
even though he is motivated by his own desire to possess the Book of Friends. He later on
begins to become more attached to Takashi.

Nisekoi follows high school students Raku Ichijo, the son of a leader in the yakuza faction
Shuei-Gumi, and Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of a boss in a rival gang known as Beehive. They
unexpectedly meet when Chitoge hops a wall and knees Raku in the face. After she runs off,
Raku realizes he has lost his locket which was given to him by his childhood sweetheart with
whom he made a secret promise.

Hiyori Iki was a regular middle school student until she was hit by a bus while trying to save
the life of a jersey-wearing person named Yato. This incident causes her to transform into a
half-phantom. Soon after she learns that Yato is a god, her life is never going to be the same

My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering with My School Romantic Comedy
anade Amakusa is a high school student who is suffering from a curse called "Absolute
Choices" ( Zettai Sentakushi?). This curse requires him to select an action from a
list of two or three options that appear before him at any time, and has no control over what
choices appear. Many of them are weird or perverse and as a result, the curse has tainted his
reputation with his classmates and other people around him, making his life very difficult.
However, one day, a choice he makes on his way home from school causes a mysterious,
beautiful young girl to fall from the sky. Amakusa discovers that she was sent from the God
World to assist him in completing a series of missions given to him directly by God himself.
After completing these missions, the "Absolute Choices" curse will be lifted from Amakusa; but
should he fail in completing any of the missions, he will be stuck with the curse forever.

Prince of Tennis
The series is primarily set in Tokyo, and centers around Ryoma Echizen, a tennis prodigy who
attends Seishun Academy ( Seishun Gakuen?), or Seigaku (?) for short, a private
school famous for its strong tennis club and talented players. Ryoma quickly defeats numerous
upperclassmen shortly after entrance to secure himself a spot as one of the team's regulars. In
pursuit of their ultimate goal of winning the National Middle School Tennis Championship,
members of the team make new friends while learning and mastering increasingly complex
techniques. Ryoma also begins to develop his own style of tennis, and eventually realizes what
the sport really means to him.
