PRIMER EXAMEN PARCIAL
1. Define the following as clearly as you can:
a. C.A.L.L. (Computer Assisted Language Learning)
b. Word cloud
c. CMC (Computer Mediated Communication)
d. To digitize

a) C.A.L.L. (Computer Assisted Language Learning) is a term used to refer to the
use of computers and new technologies in language learning. It begun with the
need of use computer in educational fields and is formed with a set of
applications that help teachers to teach and student to learn and practice.

b) A word cloud is a group or visualization of words talking about a topic. A word
cloud could be a resource to describe a topic, a book, a new theme and also can
be use to teach vocabulary. Here we have a example of a word cloud with terms

d) To digitize is a process of converting an analogical material into digital
information (zeros and ones) for example, when we want to send a document
through the internet, it is needed to be converted to binary data.

a. List the information they have in common.

The information they have in common is that both show the development that
technology have been happening through the years, and more important, both videos
show the pedagogical use that these developments were given in the school. While
technology has been improving, the education adopted it in the school.

b. Answer:
i) Do these overviews refer to the history of technology in education in
our context (that is, in Catamarca, the Northwest of Argentina, etc.)?
Why? Why not?

I do not think so because those technological devices were to expensive in our country
and it should pass some years to be able to have those technologies in Catamarca

ii) Where in the ed+tech history (shown in the videos) are Internet, Web
2.0 and Mobile learning to be located?

Internet is located in the digital age in 1995 and the Web 2.0 and Mobile learning are
located in the interactive age, since 2000.

iii) Do these videos make any reference to Digital nativeness or Digital
immigration? Either positive or negative, explain your answer.

I think they do. In the video we can see that children have been using these tech
tools since their early years in the school. We can say that they have born among
technological devices. In the video, there is also digital immigrants; those
teachers that had to learn to use the new technologies because when they were
children, they did not have these technologies.


3. Blended learning and Electronic learning are both possible in our context, in
our university, in our career.

a. Choose one of the subjects you attend (except ICT, i.e. this subject),

b. Imagine a blended learning course and
c. Describe it. In your description of this, your ideal b-learning ...............
(subject title) course, include as many tools and other resources as you think
necessary, but say what exactly each one would be used for and why you
prefer these rather than others.

The ideal blended learning course English Grammar II would be using the online
class app as WizIQ for online video and audio. The advantage of using WizIQ is
that a teacher can stream video and audio up to 10 students for free and the
student can also stream video and audio. Another feature of WizIQ is that give us
the possibility of using a virtual blackboard and a chat. Google Hangouts is
another good tools for a direct communication between the teacher and a
student. Facebook would be used for sharing comments and works between
mates. The teacher would also give weekly tips by an online audio broadcaster
application such as MixCloud or Vocaroo, but I prefer the first.


For this, use the links we have shared in the group and say what you would use
each for.

Avoid general statements like
Any tool to create cloze test can be used in this subject.
Turn it into a more descriptive one like
X tool, which can be used to create cloze tests, is likely to be applied in this
subject, to check comprehension of a text or audio worked on before. This same
type of exercise can also help to see if idioms or phrasal verbs have been acquired,
if, for instance, the blanks correspond to idioms or phrasal verbs. Finally, X enables
students to be responsible for their own learning, since they can create their own
cloze tests to be shared and cross tested. X tool can be accessed in

4. Describe a tool not worked on/used in class before, that is one from the lists
suggested or one you know of, that has not been mentioned in class, but has
pedagogical application.
In order not to have the same tools described by many, first tell the teacher which
is the one you will depict so as to see if it has not been chosen by other students
previously.
You can use any format to do this presentation, namely, ppt, document, prezi,
video, etc. anyone you are familiar with.
While the rest of the Exam should be sent by mp to the teacher, this particular
activity must be shared in the Facebook group.

This assignment is meant to be done and submitted INDIVIDUALLY. It is due
20/09, when it should be uploaded on www.scribd.com as a private document
