How to pull 3Ware / LSI RAID Controller Logs

The resolution of this article has many complex steps that may result in unforeseen results if not performed correctly. If
you are at all unfamiliar with the requirements, please contact Product Support Services for assistance.
In depth hard drive/array investigation is needed.

Pull logs from 3Ware cards:

On most newer systems shipped with v02.01.05 and higher, the file lsigetlunix.sh already exists in
the /root/.DONOTRUN/3ware_diagnostics folder, do a find / -name lsigetlunix.sh command to see if
this is the case, and if so then simply skip steps 1 through 5 below and move directly to step 6. Also
make sure to references that path when collecting the log files in step 11.
1. Download lsigetlunux.tgz from http://goo.gl/w4Fy6
2. From Endura Utilities copy the lsigetlunix.tgz file to the NSM in question. Right click on the NSM from
Utilities and select the SCP option and then select the Copy files to option.
3. The next prompt will ask you to browse for the file you wish to copy over, select lsigetlunix.tgz then

4. The next prompt will ask for a remote path to be copied to. In the "Remote Path", type /root then
click OK
5. Putty into the NSM in question. Username is root and Password is pel2899100. Extract the
lsigetlunix.tgz file by typing in: tar -zxvf lsigetlunix.tgz **This is done from /root.
6. Change directory (cd /root/lsigetlunix_110309 if file was downloaded manually, or cd
/root/.DONOTRUN/3ware_diagnostics if file already existed and steps 1-5 above were skipped). then
run the script by typing ./lsigetlunix.sh then press Enter
7. When prompted type C to continue. **This step is case sensitive, use a Capital C one time only, and
wait for response. This process can take several minutes, wait until you are returned to a bash prompt.
8. After the script completes you will see the following output with the name of the log file created. In
this example the filename is lsi.linux.NSM129.062613.1600005.tar.gz Type Q to quit. **This step is
case sensitive.

9. Type ll to see the list of files in the /root/lsigetlunix_110309 directory
10. From Endura Utilities copy the log file from the NSM in question. The file name created by the script
will be similar to the one in the above step 8, yours will be a little different but it must be noted. From
Endura Utilities copy the lsi.linux.NSM129.062613.1600005.tar.gz (Yours will be different). Right
click on the NSM from Utilities and select the SCP option and then select the Copy files from option.
11. You will then be prompted for a filename and path, use the following sample: /root/lsigetlunix
/"lsi.linux.NSM129.062613.1600005.tar.gz" then click OK
12. Next, Browse for Folder then click OK. In this example we are copying the 3ware log to the
Desktop.

13. Locate the file on the Desktop, in this example the filename
is lsi.linux.NSM129.062613.1600005.tar.gz
Note: Send JUST this file to your support rep!
Do NOT rezip the file!!!
ZIPed files may not make it though the 3ware email filter!!!
