Morning Prayer @ 8:30 a.m. – All worship participants gather for prayer each Sunday at 8:30
a.m. As we grow into a house of prayer for all people, you are welcome to join them any Sunday!

School Supplies Today – Be sure to leave the donated school supplies you purchased for neigh-
borhood schools in the lobby today. Leave the receipts as well so we can get matching funds from
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. If you forgot to bring them today, please contact Kristin Barlow
to make arrangements for getting them to her.

Oceanfront Re-Member Your Baptism Celebration Today – We are offering a unique

opportunity to affirm and re-member your Baptism today in the ocean at Cocoa Beach. You may
"re-member" in any way you'd like: splashing, diving, or dunking! We will carpool from SoJ at 2 pm
but you are welcome to go on your own earlier or later! You are asked to park in the outlying
parking areas of the Doubletree Hotel. (2080 North Atlantic Avenue / A-1A / South of Ron Jon's.)
Maps are available at the Welcome Center! We will gather for the celebration on the beach, just
south of the Doubletree. Look for a small tent and familiar faces! The "Re-Membering" celebration
will begin at 4 p.m. After, we will adjourn to the community room of the Beumer's condo to enjoy a
potluck cook-out! Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and beverages will be provided for a $2 per person
donation. All we ask is that you bring a side dish to share. Check the list at the Welcome Center
today for ideas! We will meet at the Doubletree parking lot between 3 and 3:30 to collect side
dishes so we can bring them to the condo kitchen to keep cool or warm.

Women’s Bible Study Tuesday – Calling all women! The women of SoJ are starting a new Bible
study on the book of James. We meet at church this Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. for fellowship and faith

Get Acquainted Gathering August 26 – To accommodate those who could not attend last
Sunday, an additional Get Acquainted Gathering for those new to SoJ will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, August 26 at Pastor Jeff and Patti’s home in Eastwood. Enjoy some dessert and
conversation with the Linmans and others new to SoJ. Sign-up soon at the Welcome Center.

L.E.A.D. Leadership Development Group Interest Sign-Up – Pastor Jeff is beginning the
process of selecting this year’s 12 L.E.A.D. participants…a 24 week faith building and leadership
development journey. If you’d like to be considered, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon.

2008 Burundi Mission Trip Interest Sign-Up Begins – If you’re interested in taking part in a
2nd Mission Trip to Burundi, Africa, next summer, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon! A planning /
information meeting will be scheduled soon.

First Communion – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion. A two
session class for parents and children will be held this summer. Sign-up at the welcome Center!

SoJ’s Hispanic Ministry – Look for news in the coming weeks about new opportunities for
worship, Bible study, and fellowship. Contact Pastor William for details!

Young Adult Community (YAC) – Our YAC includes our college ministry and young adult

College Student Furniture Giveaway Volunteers Needed Saturday – The young adult
community at SoJ is sponsoring this outreach to local students, inviting them to come to SoJ this
Saturday from 9am-1pm to pick out one complimentary piece of furniture, and if needed, help to
deliver it to their home. We are looking for volunteers to help with Publicity, Furniture Prep (Friday
at 7:30 p.m.) or Giveaway help (Saturday). If you would like to serve, or if you have any furniture

Additional Volunteers Urgently Needed – If you are able, please consider helping out in the
following ways at SoJ:
• Cleaning Team Volunteers: Meet Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. See Bob Belk today!
The cleaning team Schedule for September/October is at the Welcome Center.
• 2nd Service Bookstore Volunteers: Before and after the 10:45 a.m. worship. See Diane Belk.
• Tech Booth Volunteers: Serve one Sunday a month on sound or computer. Training provided.
See a tech booth volunteer today!

SoJ Quilters – QUILTERS meet the first Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Please join us and
plan to go to lunch together. We also need volunteers to cut squares and sew backs at home.

Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are
needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m.
Wednesdays. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions? Call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth are now able to recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell
phones. Please bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center
and drop them into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Congregational Care Team Update – SoJ’s Congregational Care Team offers spiritual, emotional
and physical care for those in need. If you know of someone in the hospital or sick at home, call
SoJ’s office, 407-282-4569, so we know of the need and can respond accordingly through both the
pastoral staff and the Congregational Care Team. The Team is looking into starting a
"transportation" ministry for those who need rides to church or to doctor's appointments. To

Giving Update: While gifts to SoJ’s General Operating Budget have been solid all year, we have
been falling behind in gifts received for our Building Fund! Whatever help you can provide will be
appreciated!

Joy Singers – Our adult choir, open to anyone from high school age and up, will resume
rehearsals this Wednesday at 7pm. All are welcome!

Joyful Noise – Our Sunday morning worship team rehearses on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. We are
currently looking for an additional bass player and vocalists. Interested? Contact Phil Greve.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
