Running the Virtual Appliance

Section 1 Introduction
The purpose of this documentation is to describe how to use the virtual appliance
which embeds Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop components such as Session Manager, Web
Portal, FileServer and Linux Application Server. Note that the Virtual Appliance delivers
the Community Edition of Ulteo. To upgrade to the OVD Premium Edition, refer to the
information here

Section 2 Installation
OVD Virtual appliance works with both VMware or VirtualBox. For easy setup, use a
DHCP network with a bridged interface on your host machine conguration.
2.1 VMWare Installation
You can use for demo VMWare Player.
Once launched, import your ova le into VMWare Player

2.2 VirtualBox Installation
The Virtual Appliance may also be installed using VirtualBox.
Start VirtualBox and import the Ulteo ova le

Click on "Reinitialize the MAC address..."

Accept the Software License Agreement
By default, VirtualBox fails to assign a network interface. You need to update it in the
Virtual Machine settings

Open the settings box and conrm the information by clicking on OK
The OVD Virtual Appliance is now running !

Section 3 Running the Virtual Appliance
The OVD Virtual appliance is easy to use and allows you to quickly get an idea of what
OVD is and how this works. Check the shell console to get the P addess.

Once running, you have access to an OVD farm for demo or testing purposes.
