// Good morning
// Glad to see youre awake
// At 11:45 AM
// Maybe youll even get out of your parents Basement today_
// But probably not
// Why would you need to go outside and seek genuine human interaction when you could
just sit here and hack into the iCloud Mainframe
// Those nude pictures of all your favorite celebrities arent going to look at themselves, after
all

Players: 4

Objective: Collaborate with your other socially awkward and potentially infamous Hacker
friends to collect password cracks that will allow you to access the iCloud Mainframe and
return to the safety of the Basement. In your own words, Save the princess, get the nudes.

Components:
1 Mainframe Grid (Board)
Multicolored Pegs (Push Pins)
Peg Caps (White Erasers)
4 Sets Different Colored Circuit Wires (Yarn)
Celebrity Password Crack Cards
REQUIRED ITEM NOT INCLUDED: Timer

Hacker Quick Reference:

1. Pick a Hacker to go first.
2. Everybody draws a celebrity password crack card.
3. Set the timer for 30 seconds.
4. Each Hacker, from right to left, attempts to acquire the code on their card by
wrapping their circuit around one adjacent peg at a time; this cycle continues until
the timer runs out.
5. At the end of the round, roll the 8-sided die to determine which peg will be capped
(end of round 1 = 1st row, end of round 2 = 2nd row, etc.)
6. Discuss any strategies you might have before the next round; do not reveal more
than one color of your code to any other Hackers.
7. Proceed through each round like this until all Hackers have reached the Mainframe
(top of the board) and returned safely to the Basement (the first row).
8. The last Hacker to reach the Mainframe becomes the Backer; they use a new color
to help trace a path back to the Basement.
9. When all Hackers have returned safely to the first row, the game is over and the
Hackers have won.
10. The Hackers must return to the Basement before the end of the 8th round, or they
lose the game.

Beginning The Game:

All Hackers should begin by choosing a circuit wire color and taking all components (yarn)
of that color. Wires will begin from silver pegs at the bottom of the grid (furthest away from
the Mainframe). It does not matter which silver peg a Hacker starts from, but they may only
move to the peg directly to the left or right of their starting peg.

Each Hacker then gets to draw a celebrity password crack card from the pile. The pile
should then be set aside for later. The card that you draw will determine the password that
you are trying to crack as you hack your way towards the Mainframe. For instance, if you
draw Jennifer Lawrence (or J-Law, as she may be known), then you will need to follow the
color code listed on the card, R.B.Y.G. If at any point during the game you realize that it is
not possible to acquire your code, you may trade it in for a new one.

NOTE: A Hacker shall not pass on his/her turn, even if there are no adjacent colors that
are in their code. They must move somewhere, every turn.

If a color in a listed code has a [box] around it: that peg must have two Hackers including
the one with the code, occupying it. The other Hacker occupying the peg does not need to
have that color or similarly boxed color in their code they are just required for assistance,
and it is alright if they were there first.

Hackers may not reveal to each other their codes (data is invaluable!), but must work
together to achieve complete hack. If a Hacker needs assistance, they may indicate so
during the discussions in between rounds, but only 1 color may be revealed at a time. If at
any time, more than 1 color is revealed to the other Hackers, the Hacker is forced to trade in
their code for a new one.

All 4 colors in a code must be hit consecutively in order to acquire a password crack. The
Hackers need to have at least 3 password cracks collectively in order to access the
Mainframe.

How To Play:

The game consists of 8 rounds. If the Hackers are unable to access the Mainframe and
return safely to the Basement before the end of the 8
th
round, the iCloud security system will
be notified of their actions and the threat (thats you!!!) will be eradicated. All hackers are
then tracked down by the authorities and taken into custody. But dont worry. Your jail cell
probably wont feel much different from the Basement; therell just be less internet access. :(

There are steps you can take to avoid this undesired chain of events. Each round, a timer is
set for 30 seconds. The hackers must try to make as many moves as possible during this
time frame. But they must try not to get in each others way, and turns must be taken ONE
AT A TIME.

A first round plays out as follows:

1) One Hacker is designated to start.

2) The Hacker connects their wire from their starting peg to an adjacent peg (one peg
horizontally, vertically, or diagonally over) as speedily as possible.

NOTE: Only two Hackers may have their wires on a single peg at one time. Hackers are
also unable to backtrack to pegs that their wire is already on.

3) It then becomes the Hacker to the lefts turn.

4) When all Hackers have taken a turn, the first Hacker takes another turn, making a new
adjacent connection from the last peg they were on. Turns continue until the timer runs out.

NOTE: At the start of the next round, play picks up with whoevers turn would have been
next during the last round.

5) If any password cracks are acquired during the round, that card should be set aside face
up to indicate that it has been acquired.

6) Once a Hacker has acquired a password crack, after setting aside their current celebrity
password crack card, they pick up another to work towards.

NOTE: No Hackers may attempt to access the Mainframe until ALL 3 PASSWORD
CRACKS have been acquired.

At The End Of Each Round:

The iCloud security system will do a check to make sure there is no suspicious activity at
the end of each round. It will take precautions by capping 1 peg on the grid, determined by
rolling the 8-sided die. At the end of the first round, the die is rolled for the first row (furthest
away from the Mainframe). At the end of the second round, the die is rolled for the second
row, and so on and so forth until the 8 rounds are over. If there are wires attached to the
peg, they do not need to be removed, but the peg may not be used again for the rest of the
game. If the capping of a peg upsets a Hackers password crack, they lose the crack and
must discard it.

The Hackers may take as much time as they need in between rounds to talk about better
strategies to reach the enticing end goal. One of the challenges of the game is that the
Hackers must figure out how to best collaborate given their constraints.

Winning The Game:

Once 3 password cracks have been acquired, the hackers may attempt to access the
Mainframe by making their way directly there. Once all of the Hackers have reached the
Mainframe, they may wait there for the other Hackers to arrive, to avoid blocking their way,
since there are only two Hackers to a peg.

The last Hacker to reach the Mainframe acquires a new ability, that of the Backer. They
choose a new, previously unused color and use this wire to effectively erase all status
effects on pegs that may already have wires or caps on them. This means that if a peg had
two wires on it, it now effectively has none, and if the peg was capped, it is now uncapped.

Once all 4 Hackers have made it back to the Basement (the 1st row), the game is over, the
Hackers have all won, and you can go upstairs and rejoice by asking your mom to make
you a sandwich. Congratulations on your accomplishment! You did it! Nudes for everyone!
