The program offers promising students from
all over the world an intellectually stimulating
and challenging setting in which to prepare for
their professional careers in central banking,
commercial banking, insurance and other
nancial services.

It has been designed with a view to establishing
itself as a leading Masters program integrating
studies in monetary economics, macroeconomics
and nance and a major gateway to high-prole
jobs in the banking and nancial sector.
WHY MMF I N F RANKF URT ?

It provides an unique combination of money, macroeconomics
and finance, much better tailored to the banking and financial
sector than either single-field Masters programs or typical
economics and finance programs.
It combines teaching by academics with topical courses taught
by high-level practitioners in central banks, including the ECB,
and in the private sector.
It has a rich structure combining regular core and elective
courses with seminars and supplementary courses.
It is taught in close proximity to two central banks, and to
numerous private banks and insurance companies in a major
financial center and in the most beautiful and modern campus
in Germany, one of the best in the world.

P ROGRAM S T RUCT URE

The program is taught in English; knowledge of German is not
required for admission to, or completion of the program
Regular duration: 4 semesters
Total credits: 120 CP
Studies commence every winter term
The Masters program in Money and Finance is
designed as a four-semester program, with the
fourth semester being devoted to research and
writing of a Masters thesis.
It has ve major components:
Fundamental Modules are intended to provide
the basic tools for the subsequent courses and the
thesis work.
Electives are chosen from two lists of available
courses. These courses are intended to provide
advanced specialized knowledge in areas that
should be chosen by the student with a view to
future career plans.
Supplementary Modules are intended to provide a
close look at how academic principles are applied
to work carried out by practitioners in central and
commercial banking, and in the broader nancial
sector. They are typically taught by central bankers
and practitioners in the banking and nancial
sector.
Seminars of two types are offered:
Field Seminar
Thesis Seminar
The Masters thesis research is conducted during
the last semester of the program and demonstrates
the students in-depth familiarity with a particular
topic in monetary economics, nance, or their
interaction, as well as his/her ability for some
original work.
