They will be required to assume the responsibility of the Sales Manager or Deputy Manager, when required.

Core Responsibilities
Shop Floor & Staff
1. To manage, monitor and motivate the sales team in order to: (i) achieve sales budgets, (ii) exceed customer expectations, (iii) ensure that all areas are working efficiently, finding jobs, prioritising and offering a 1 st class customer service at all times.
2. To lead by example, contributing to the achievement of sales budgets, increasing sales and exceeding customer expectations through own performance.
3. To ensure effective communication and teamwork within your own team and between all floors.
4. To play an integral part in the development of staff: identify areas of strengths and poor performance, manage poor performance, create action and development plans, and provide input into staff appraisals.
5. Manage effective use of staff resource, delegate & select staff for suitable activities.
6. Ensure that all staff practice the George Fisher quality of customer service and work ethic.
7. To maintain store merchandising and display areas and participate in shop changes to ensure the store is merchandised to create maximum potential sales.
8. To be involved in staff recruitment when necessary.
9. In the absence of the Sales Manager and/or Deputy Manager, or as required, undertake any or all of the following (i) supervise staff from all floors, (ii) take responsibility for management of the shop floor and staff, (iii) undertake the opening/closing procedures.
10. To undertake any other activities as directed by the General Manager, Sales Manager or Deputy Manager.
Staff Training, stock & product knowledge
1. Be aware of what stock & deliveries come in on all floors.
2. Maintain your own product knowledge and awareness of new technology.
3. Carry out, or delegate, in store product knowledge training to develop staff.
4. Maintain professional standards when dealing with suppliers.
5. To discuss with the buyers and plan any practical, out on the hill trainings that would be deemed beneficial to the staff and the company.
6. To discuss and plan George Fisher led trainings through identifying areas in which the staff and the company would benefit.
7. To manage/control stock room organisation.
8. To work with the Sales and/or Deputy Manager in the planning and delivery of induction training for new staff.
Administration
1. When necessary, produce daily reports for sales floor & cashing up.
2. Manage customer count spreadsheet & produce figures, when required.
3. To be a key holder, when required.
4. Participate in and contribute to meetings, as appropriate.
5. Take responsibility for and comply with current HASAW good practice.
6. Work with the Customer Services Manager to ensure stock checks are carried out accurately on a regular basis.
7. Carry out sickness/return to work procedures, as necessary.
8. To assist staff cashing up to rectify any mistakes or discrepancies daily.
9. To comply with and undertake company security procedures.
10. Provide information to support the shop management.
