[HANNA TAHIR] REFLECTION

For this semester, we are given another chance to bond among us TESLIAN by
creating a society that we called English Language Society. The society compromises the
four classes of TESL 6 PISMP; TESL 1, TESL 2, TESL 3 and TESL 4.
An English society is a place for ESL language learners to use English beyond the
ESL classroom and in real life situations. The practice of the language skills in the classroom
is crucial, but it is not enough to master the language. In the English club, the students have
the chance to use different skills and discuss a variety of topics.
Trainees who lack interaction, motivation in the classroom, either because they are
introvert, shy or they have a low language level, the English society might be a good solution
to involve them with their friends in doing various activities and to make weak student active.
The good thing about creating an English society, it give chances to us trainees to learn and
improve our English with fun.
The four classes are adjacent to one another, yet we could have a better bonding than
we did. The society dealt with that as every Tuesday and Thursday we are given two hours to
mingle around with all 6 PISMP TESLIANS regardless their respective class through fun
activities and discussions.
The society belongs to us. We created a logo for it, composed a song for it and even a
logo. We are proud with it.
Talking about activities, the last two week, we were instructed to plan activities for
the society. Each class were required to plan four short activities. Hence, we did. Our group
conducted charade, a mini game in a game. As for me, the activity was good as it gave us a
crucial chance to learn from all the language games. It could be handy when we are to teach
some day in the future.
Language games are said to be a perfect aid to teach English language. Probably the
most important developmental benefit is that games require children to interact and speak
with each other. They have to negotiate rules, take turns and correct and challenge each other.
This helps your pupils use and improve their thinking, problem solving, listening and
speaking skills. Games are also great when you or pupils need a break from intense studying.
They are also helpful to introduce a new topic or to recall or review a recent lesson.
[HANNA TAHIR] REFLECTION

It is possible to teach the year's curriculum exclusively using games backed up by one
written exercise or activity sheet per lesson so that pupils over the age of 6 have a record of
what they have learned and practise writing and spelling. It should hastily be added that
instead of an exercise or activity sheet you can also use a writing game instead.
Games are a great component to include in my classroom repertoire of activities
because they allow pupils to explore different learning styles and learn the proposed topics at
the same time.
Finally, I do really appreciate the efforts that shown by the lecturers and the
committees and all 6 PISMP trainees to make it happen, the society. It has been a great
experience for me. All the things Ive learnt, I will surely use it later. Thank you.
