As everyone knows,that there are millions of cases going on each day in the

world.There are different cases going on everyday in the court for example
criminal cases,divorce cases,civil claims,etc.So as a part of our Legal Aspects of
Business Project and to know how this cases are carried out,I went to the
Mapusa Civil and Criminal Court along with my friends.The Mapusa Civil and
Criminal Court has about 3 main court rooms in the main building and about 2
other court rooms in the extended building.The court room which I went in was
Court C.The Judge was Mrs. Sayonara Telles Laad,(Civil Judge Sr Div and
J.M.F.C).
The Case which was going on was about a married couple whose divorce was
going on 5years back and the husband used to torture his wife a lot.The
husbands name was Anand Lotlikar and his wifes name was Rekha Lotlikar.The
advocate was Mr.Sandeep Raikar who was defending the divorcer Mrs.Rekha
Lotlikar and the divorcee was defended by advocate Mr Narayan Naik.So in this
case Mrs.Rekha Lotlikar used to get tortured by her husband Ananad lotlikar.
The Husband filed a case against his wife because she left the house as her
husband used to harass and tortured her for five months by not giving food,
making her work all the time and not giving her to sleep.She also stated in the
court that she was torture by her brother in law also so she had no other option
other than leaving the house and going to her mothers place.The husband was
not present for the court hearing.So the judge told the lawyers that if they both
want to stay separately then the husband should give the wife Rs 4000 and an
additional amount of Rs 500 every year but the husbands lawyer told the judge
that the husband is willing to pay only two thousand.
The Judge then asked Mrs.Rekha Lotlikar if she would like to go back to her
husbands house then Mrs Rekha said that she is ready to go but only on one
condition that she will be treated properly and no one tortures her,but the
husbands advocate says that they will pay her that amount. The judge then calls
for the hearing for the evening session and the court was adjourned till after
lunch.
