English playwright and poet. Third of eight children of John Shakespeare, a wealthy merchant and
local politician and Mary Arden, whose family had suffered religious persecution arising from his
Catholic faith, little or nothing is known about the childhood and adolescence of William
Shakespeare. It seems likely that study at the Grammar School in his hometown
Shakespeare's father, who was at the height of its prosperity when William was born, soon fell out
of favor. When he was thirteen, his father's fortune was gone and the boy had to be placed as a
dependent of carnage, must leave school. It also describes the lazy wandering along the banks of the
Avon, scribbling verses given to the study of botanical minutiae or rivaling the hardest drinkers and
then napping at the foot of the groves of Arden.
The November 28, 1582, when he was 18 years old, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, 26, a
native of Temple Grafton, near Stratford town. Apparently he'd rush to arrange the wedding, maybe
because Anne was three months pregnant. After marriage, there is hardly marks William
Shakespeare in historical records until makes an appearance on the London theater scene. The May
26, 1583, the eldest daughter of the couple, Susanna, was baptized in Stratford. A son, Hamnet, and
a daughter, Judith, born twins, were also baptized shortly thereafter on February 2, 1585; Hamnet
died at the age of eleven, and only reached adulthood daughters. Judging by the will of the
playwright, who was somewhat dismissive of Anne Hathaway, the marriage was not well-matched.
William Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 at the age of fifty-two years. Shakespeare's remains
were buried in the chancel of the church of the Holy Trinity (Holy Trinity Church) Stratford.

comerciante y poltico local, y Mary Arden, cuya familia haba sufrido persecuciones religiosas
derivadas de su confesin catlica, poco o nada se sabe de la niez y adolescencia de William
Shakespeare. Parece probable que estudiara en la Grammar School de su localidad natal

Anne Hathaway, de 26, originaria de Temple Grafton, localidad prxima a Stratford. Al parecer que
haba prisa en concertar la boda, tal vez porque Anne estaba embarazada de tres meses. Tras su
matrimonio, apenas hay marcas de William Shakespeare en los registros histricos, hasta que hace
su aparicin en la escena teatral londinense. El 26 de mayo de 1583, la hija primognita de la
pareja, Susanna, fue bautizada en Stratford. Un hijo, Hamnet, y otra hija, Judith, nacidos mellizos,
fueron asimismo bautizados poco despus, el 2 de febrero de 1585; Hamnet muri a los once aos,
y solamente llegaron a la edad adulta sus hijas. A juzgar por el testamento del dramaturgo, que se
muestra algo desdeoso con Anne Hathaway, el matrimonio no estaba bien avenido.
William Shakespeare falleci el 23 de abril de 1616 a la edad de cincuenta y dos aos. Los restos de
Shakespeare fueron sepultados en el presbiterio de la iglesia de la Santsima Trinidad (Holy Trinity
Church) de Stratford.
